A lovely place: we had a bedroom, sitting room, and two bathrooms -- comfortably furnished with sofas, hi-fi, and a small decanter of whisky. From there we were just a staircase away from the more formal hotel drawing room where drinks and canapes are served with great panache. Thereafter the set menu for dinner was for each of our three nights a real treat. Anthony in the kitchen has real flair and the service was immaculate, even if the charming white-gloved Slovakian stewards made us feel slightly as though we had stumbled onto the poop deck of the Queen Mary. We couldn't influence the October weather, unfortunately, so our ascents of Goat Fell and its neighbours were uniformly smothered in dense cloud. Kilmichael aims to make you feel as comfortable as you would be at home, with hotel luxury thrown in. It succeeds magnificently.
