“Better to find a good B & B”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

While this may be the best hotel in Blackwaterfoot, that isn't saying very much. It did provide a nice close location for Shiskine Golf, and the room, though tiny, was nicely furnished with a comfortable bed. Carpeting needed a good cleaning. Breakfast was fine. For the price, though, in comparison to B & B values, our expectations were much higher.
For golfers who want to play Shiskine, they would be better off staying farther away and driving to the course--though one needs to allow extra travel times for the extremely curvy and narrow roads.
In a 11-day trip using mostly TripAdvisor recommendations, this hotel was our only disappointment.

“What a helpful man!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

My friend and I were cycling around Arran when we got caught in a blustery downpour - drenching us to the bone and washing away our love of cycling! Then out of the grey haze came Blackwaterfoot Lodge! Warm and inviting with grand armchairs, crickety corridors and plenty of island charm.

The owner, a physisit by trade was friendly and very welcoming.. exactly what we needed. The rooms were fine, the shower hot and the ambience great.

The morning breakfast was tasty and he even drove us back to the ferry port the next morning when we realised our ischial spines couldnt bear the saddles of our bikes!

Its not the most beautiful place, but certainly better than staying in the souless chain just up the road!

“very dissapointing.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

Hotel was highly rated but disssapointing. The room was spacious but the bathroom was tiny and in need of reapair. The toilet papaer holder was falling off the wall. the toilet tank cover was broken and rusted. There was no shampoo. The sink was in the bedroom but had no place to hang a towel. We left after one night.

All these guests had to do was tell us about the toilet paper holder, which was OK a week ago, and ask for shampoo or anything else they needed. Not true about lack of hanging space for a towel. We waived our cancellation policy on the understanding that hurricane Irene had flooded guest's home, which was the reason they gave for leaving early. The toilet tank top is plastic and cannot rust, but we concede that it is old fashioned and is in fact next in line for replacement.. The size of the bathroom is a function of the building; if guests want a modern box they should realise from our website that we're definitely not that.

“Great longe atmosphere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

Stopped here when we were running out of petrol late on a Sunday evening... Good hospitality, great lounge bar. Room was spacious with a view on the sea.
Breakfast is 8 'till 9, don't come late or the young lithuanian servant will stubbonly tell you you're too late and make you feel very very bad....

“Great food, log fires blazing in lounge and bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2011

Room clean and attractive, electric heater in room did not work, when I mentioned this the owner Ian said he would check it, and that it had been working when last the room was used.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of hte sea.
