“Excellent Bar meals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

We didn't stay at the hotel but we did have Bar meals several times during our week in a nearby cottage. The menu was very good with daily specials , everything we had was top quality and outstanding value for money. Staff very friendly and efficient. So impressed by the standards experienced in the Bar we plan to spend a few days here early in the new year.

“I will be going again and again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

I went here with my boyfriend and his family - they have been going for generations... to the extent that the receptionist knows them by face and we got the same room that his grandparents usually get. They offer rooms for 2 and suites for up to 6 people. All rooms are very comfortable and nice and clean. There are 2 eating places, the dining room, which offers exquisite local fine dining (so good) and the bar/restaurant, which offers very nice pubby food. It's a really family friendly hotel and I have every intention of returning with my boyfriend and carrying on a long family tradition of holidays in Arran.

Room Tip: Suites are best value if you're travelling as a group - have self catering facilities which is n...

“Excellent value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

My mum, daughter and I stayed here recently for 3 nights. We got an excellent deal costing £148 per night per room DBB. The hotel has a fabulous location but ask for a sea view! The food was excellent and fabulously presented althought the hotel wasn't busy so dinner was in the bar area rather than the formal dining room. On the first night, the dining area was lovely with candles on the windowsills but for some reason, these were not lit on subsequent nights which diminished the atmosphere somewhat. Excellent choice at breakfast although some fresh fruit ie bananas would have been good. We used the swimming pool and sauna which is an excellent way to finish off your day. Unfortunately, the heatel towel rail in our room was not working and I am not sure why the room was let if it was not working as the room was very cold. However, we did change rooms. Also, my mum was ill one night and the hotel staff could not do enough to ensure we had everything we wanted/needed to help her get better.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view!

“A ladies Golf Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

12 of us stayed at the Kinloch in October to play in the Arran Challenge over Shiskine Golf Course. We found the hotel to be excellent. The staff were very friendly and the food excellent.
The dining room has been upgraded from last year and has a lovely atmosphere in it.

The views from the rooms are breathtaking. Right on the waterfront looking over to Campbeltown.

The hotel is suitable for all different types of breaks. The owner makes sure the hotel is welcoming and gives a very personal service.

“lunch for hungry cyclists”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

welcome stop for lunch on the 57 mile circumnavigation of Arran.
Given the stunning views and location, the dining room is a bit "beige" and nondescript.
The food was generous, hearty, filling (and came with a whisky) but was not 'local' fare.
I think you'd find the same menu in every Best Western. Not bad, but missed a trick, i think.
The staff were warm and friendly, and up for a bit of banter, which is always nice.
We were certainly well fuelled for the rest of the day.
