“Lovely hotel with amazing views and great restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

My husband and I booked to stay here for one night as we had heard good things about the hotel and its seafood restaurant, A Room with a View. When I called to book the hotel was closed for the season but they keep a room open for people wishing to eat in the resturant. That was perfect. We asked for a bottle of sparkly to be in our room on arrival and it was there waiting for us. The hotel is steeped in history and has a real charm about it. Our en-suite room was big and comfortable with great views across the Forth.

The meal in the restaurant was excellent and I loved the presentation. It is a small dining room which keeps the ambience cosy but it is clearly a popular destination as most of the tables were booked. The hotel also runs a pick-up/drop-off service to the town for diners which is a great idea as the hotel is situated at the bottom of a country track, which was a bit daunting driving down in the dark but not so scary driving back up in the daylight! We sat in the cosy lounge after our meal with a wee whisky before going off to sleep.

Breakfast was good - even though we were the only people having breakfast, there was a good selection of fruit, cereal and yoghurt, which was followed by a cooked breakfast. I particularly liked the homemade marmalade!

After breakfast we had a walk in the garden before driving home. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We had a very relaxing stay, we didn't feel rushed and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We also enjoyed meeting Misty, Hannah's gorgeous Border Collie. Every hotel should have a dog!

It was a perfect weekend and we woud definitely go back.

“Sleepy hollow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011 via mobile

Beautiful building with real air of history about it. Absolutely mesmerising views that are impossible to describe. Very tranquil with interesting history and some adventurous footpaths leading to surrounding Aberdour. I stayed here for 4 nights on business and felt really at home. Bonus is, there is a great seafood restaurant on site too! Just couldn't get any better. great breakfast too. The rooms to go for face the estuary and are en-suite. Nothing too fancy with slightly dated furniture but who cares - sitting in the room with your feet up looking out over the estuary.

“Stay and you won't want to leave”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

Spend a night there for a family reunion and couldn't have asked for more. The first floor corner room, 5?, has windows that face the Forth and the Bridges/Aberdour harbour and is probably the best room. The food in the 'Room with a View' restaurant is exceptional with many non-residents visiting from far and wide. Very much a seafood menu but with meat options if you order in advance. Very friendly staff, stunning location and memorable dining experience. Some of the decor may be a bit dated but you overlook this - it just doesn't matter. Being there does.

Room Tip: Ask for the first floor corner suite - Room 5?

“First Class food, service and views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2010

The owner and the staff were friendly and the service absolutely first class - as was the food which I would recommend to EVERYONE! The dinner and breakfast were to die for and we will definitely be back again. I was a bit disappointed in the "deluxe" room (although it was clean and fresh and had lovely en suite) but sitting at the window looking at the view more than made up for it.

“Amazing meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2010

I could not stay the night as the Hotel was closed until Easter. I ate in the restaurant and had a lovely relaxed meal exceptionally well cooked . I am definitely coming back. Stunning location. This is a real find and borders on the eccentric- but I love that. When the world is so full of clone type hotels we need more places like this !!!!!
