As there is little choice in Aberdour on a Sunday we thought we would try High Tea here. The lady on the desk didn't even get up when we came in but gave us directions to the dining room. On entry I ooed and aahed fabulous decor. Looked promising - the menu was duly offered. Choice of Deep Fried Haddock, Steak Pie, Gammon Steak, Salad, Pasta and we could have Lamb but not it was pointed out the other two dishes.
I should have realised something was amiss when there were only two couples and a table of three at 5pm. Toast arrived ok. Then our food. Never had steak pie in a soup plate- unusual presentation but tasty anyway. My friend had very salty gammon steak.
Having had High Tea in various places in Fife-( the best so far at a wee golf club with stunning views and food to die for in Anstruther) we awaited the cakes and scones.
What a let down- two wee fruit scones, and what looked like three small shop bought cakes. Not quite the spirit of High Tea and at a cost of £10.95 (probably because it is a hotel). Not even faintly value for money- perhaps the owners should take a look at what other establishments are offering. Certainly won't be either repeating or recommending this place.
