“Never never again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012 via mobile

This is basically a venue hotel which we found out to our cost.
We had noisy residents returning to their rooms from 1.00 until 4.00 .
We had a drunk banging on our door looking for his lady friend
We had the fire alarm going at 4.00 and went down stairs to find a manager totally out of his depth in handling evacuation procedures. If it had been a real alarm I dread to think what would have happened. Happily after much negotiating we left paying only for the breakfast. In conclusion if your at the venue you should be getting what you expect but as a visitor - FORGET IT !!!!

Hello Converging,

Thank you for your review and indeed your feedback.

It is extremely disappointing that another resident, who incidentally was attending the same event as yourselves, caused you so much distress and the actions of said individual have caused you to form the opinion that you will ‘never never [visit] again.’

Our duty manager did attempt to deal with the individual but we hope you agree that the situation was not of our making and dealt with promptly when the individual thought it appropriate to set of our fire alarm.

The alarm was extinguished within 10 minutes and of course we did not charge for your stay in our hotel.

We apologise for our candour but are at a loss as to what we could have done differently under the circumstances that would have met with your approval.

Kind Regards,

Jonathon Williams

“Relaxing evening and Fantastic Food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We recently went for a meal in the restaurant and decided to stop over, we stayed over on a Friday night and the rate was £60 including breakfast. The room was very good, and very nicely decorated in an Indian/asian style.
The room had a small dressing area and a small sofa, and as other reviewers have said it had a bowl of fruit and tea/coffee making facilities, and very nice dressing gowns.
The bathroom was large with a huge walk in shower, the power shower was fantastic, I came out balder than when I went in !!, very powerful and to me fantastic.
The TV was a bit fiddly with remotes, due to it having a separate Freeview box, but they supplied good instructions for you if you struggle with these things, the room also had a DVD player and there was a list of DVD's avalable at reception if you wanted to use the facility.

We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed the food very much, the service of the waiting staff was very good and the quality and standard of food was very good. We could fault very little in the restaurant and did very much enjoy it.

Breakfast was also very good, waiting staff were pleasant and service was quick, the hot food was cooked to order and was very tasty, and filling.

The only improvement I would make to the room, is to provide disposable slippers, the bathroom is fully tiled and it was cold when walking on it, a minor gripe I know, but it would make a difference.

All in all, a very enjoyable stay in a lovely Boutique Hotel, well worth the money and a very enjoyable and relaxing evening in the restaurant.

“A very enjoyable evening!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

My husband and I recently went for a meal at Lazaats and had a fantastic evening. We were greeted at the door and led to a table in the lounge area where we were ordered a drink whilst reviewing the menu. The waitress gave ample time before coming to take our order, then left us to sit back and relax until our food was ready.
We were led to a table in the restaurant after about 15 minutes where our wine was waiting, and our starters were brought straight out. I ordered the Halloumi and Fig salad, my husband the Chicken Livers - both were delicious. I had to prompt the waitress that the figs weren't on my salad but this issue was resolved speedily and with apologies so it didn't affect my enjoyment.
For main course I had the Beef Bhuna which is a house speciality and it was amazing. Slightly hotter than I would usually go for but the balance of flavours worked so well I didn't mind. My husband ordered the Chicken and Coconut curry which he said was equally good. Both dishes were served in pretty little dishes which looked very authentic to India (although I've never been so can't be sure!), the portion was just the right quantity without leaving you too stuffed, and there was a serving of rice. We also shared a garlic naan and peshwari naan which were both great although large so you only need one between two people.
We were then offered the desert menu which was a little disappointing in terms of choice, but that may have been because I had eyed up the Cardamom Cheesecake on the Valentines menu which was being promoted on the tables at the time!! My Eton Mess was a little disappointing with more cream than berries or meringue, but my husbands Festive Crumble was delicious and the perfect sized serving.
The waiting staff were incredibly attentive throughout the meal and I don't think their smiles faltered at any time - pretty impressive!!
I would highly recommend Lazaat's for a meal, the surroundings are very well thought out offering intimacy for diners and plenty of space for large parties. The food was fantastic and I look forward to returning. Well Done!!

“In my experience.........It is there”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I have a confession to make........When this establishment first opened I was disappointed and have not returned for a number of years.

We were invited to a Wedding in December and decided to stay 2 nights and eat in the Restaurant on our first nights stay.

It seems that improvements have been made in all areas because my experience was frankly excellent.

It is not my style to go into absolute detail but both our bedroom and indeed the food served to us at the Wedding reception was first class.

The staff are a credit to the business and from check in and an offer of help with our luggage to the service staff at the wedding............we were well looked after!

The style is perhaps best described as eclectic.......and we loved it!

Recommended......and we will return.

Hi William B,

It is simply superb to hear that your two night stay was a great one.

We have said it before but we acknowledge that improvements need to be made at our Hotel and a great effort has been made to do so.

It is also good to hear that you enjoyed your invitation to the wedding hosted at our hotel – Any area that we are both very busy with and indeed enjoy an excellent reputation in.

We really look forward to seeing you again.

Kind Regards,

Jonathon Williams

“Nearly there?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

I stayed for two nights (29 and 30 December) whilst visiting relatives and friends locally so it was really just for B&B at a bookings.com discounted rate. I was therefore pleasantly surprised to find myself upgraded from the single room I had booked to a king size double! Sadly I had no one to share this huge expanse with.....

But as mentioned in other reviews I found the room temperature lower than comfortable and with one tiny wall heater as the only heating option for sucha large room it was pretty ineffective, and appeared a bit temperamental. And no hot water on first morning. That was remedied for second night but the beware of "heated towel rail" notice still remained irrelevant.

Yes, the lighting does need attention, and on the first morning, after the cold shower, the breakfast arrived about 30 minutes later than requested. For the price I paid I have no complaints, but to delight guests who may be paying the full rack rate those bits of detail do need attention. For example, great to have a bath robe, but ideally one with both belt loops properly attached, and that the curtain pulls work properly. This is not to be churlish, but maybe there needs to be a slightly closer eye on the less obvious things.

I only dealt with the reception staf who were all fine - and so generous that they initially presented me with a bill for one might rather than two!

Hi Desmond,

Thank you for your feedback. We accept your comments in the spirit that they are intended and are fully committed to ensuring your experience meets with your expectation irrespective of the price paid.

I am aware that you paid £50.00 and £60.00 respectfully for a two night stay inclusive of breakfast and are therefore pleased that you consider this to be good value.

The challenge is of course to ensure that if you paid £75.00 for a room that you leave delighted – and it seems that there is still work to do.

You have our absolute assurance that if you choose to stay at Lazaat again, you leave feeling that we are indeed “there”.

Kind Regards,

Jonathon Williams
