Set in one of England’s most beautiful and interesting counties this country house hotel offers a tranquil setting, feel at home hospitality and food to die for. The comfortable interior is packed with a wide range of antiques and each en-suite bedroom is unique in style from that of its neighbours in both the main house and the Coach House. The huge double beds provide plenty of space to spread out for a peaceful night’s sleep.
The tariff offers dinner bed and breakfast which will keep all but the heartiest of appetites going for 24 hours.
Why do we keep going back year after year? Along with every other guest we are made to feel so welcome upon arrival and throughout our stay by Nita Hauser and her front of house staff. Nothing within their gift is too much trouble. The cuisine is delicious and Dorset and the surrounding counties offer so much to explore.
Breakfasts offer fresh juices and fruits, homemade yogurts, muesli and cereals followed by full English or fish, toast and homemade marmalade and preserves. Yum!
The evening menu is always eagerly awaited by guests as are Chef du Patron Peter Hauser’s little appetiser soups at the start of the meal. Canapés accompany the reading of the menu. It’s always amusing watching other guests agonise over their choices knowing that you too will go through a similar process. The produce used by Peter Hauser is always of finest quality, often from his own kitchen garden, and his delicate touch in the kitchen invariably enhances its qualities into a rare treat throughout every course. The menus contain some Austrian accents reflecting his roots and change on a daily basis. I find myself salivating just thinking about the menus.
We can’t wait to go back to Stock Hill for another Christmas house party this year.
