“Fantastic friendly B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2007

We stayed here with our 10 week old baby for two nights to go to a wedding locally and it was superb. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, which made our arrival a lot more pleasant after 7 hours in the car with a howling infant.

Finding it was no problem due to the copious amounts of information sent to us in advance and it is set in a quiet location with a field of cows nearby and lovely bucolic views.

We had the Ruby room comprising a 2 piece suite, "dining space", ironing room, shower etc. and which was well stocked with a kettle, fridge, tv, DVD player and travel cot.

Breakfast was excellent - the usual "full english" but made of good quality ingredients and with croissants and freshly squeezed juices. We were also made to feel extremely welcome and that anything we requested was really no hassle for the owners.

  • Disliked — The occasional low ceiling, since I am tall and have spent my life banging my head on them.

“Very Peaceful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2007

We arrived after dark, but we were greeted warmly by our hosts. They moved us into the large more spacious 'coral room' for our two night stay, and booked us a table at the local pub for dinner in advance, which was great.

The room had its own front door and was definitely a home for home, with many personal touches.

I personally felt the carpets a bit tired and that a wooden floor would have set the room off perfectly. The bathroom was also in need of upgrade, but the room was spotless and clean.
Our bed was huge!

We could have our breakfast at a time that suited us, which was great for a lie in. The breakfast was lovely, with plenty of local produce to set you up for the day.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for a perfect escape in the country - the gardens were lovely and it had a very warm relaxing feel.

Spot on B&B in great location to explore Devon and espically Dartmoor. Standard B&B decor but good room facilities and cleaned daily. Owners very friendly and always looking to provide advice. Great pub serving high quality food. Owners pre-booked for us for the Friday we arrived.

“Fantastic.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2006

Four days in August...

A place to rest, a place to play,
a place to find, a place to stay.

A welcome to greet, a welcome for all,
a welcome in kind, a welcome from Paul.

A bedroom from heaven, a bedroom with beams,
a bedroom to sleep, a bedroom for dreams.

A breakfast to savour, a breakfast with coffee,
a breakfast with sausages...and toffee.

A location with style, a location to cheer,
a location restful, the location...here.

A service to envy, a service with grace,
a service for all of gentler pace.

A day in Boscatle, a day in Clovelly,
a day of cream teas filling the belly.

A stay to remember, a stay without fault,
a stay of surprises, of sea and of salt.

A thought to return, a thought to confirm,
a thought to the future...affirm.

A thankyou to Paul, a thankyou to Cathy,
a thankyou from Nick and from Becky.

A place to rest, a place to play,
a place to find, a place to stay.

Stayed August 2006

“Perfect Perfect Perfect”

We were fortunate enough to attend a friends wedding in Devon in Mid June and as we live in London decided to come down to Devon the night before and make a weekend of it.

I should stay at this stage that I am a Hotel Manager, therefore to be honest staying in other hotels does very little to relax me at the weekend.

The Old Coach House could not have been more perfect, when I say you couldn't hear a pin drop that does not even describe it. Peace and Quiet.

Paul & Cathy stayed up to greet us which was extremely late by the time we got out of the city, I certainly did not expect to see them up and waiting for us after midnight.

Breakfast was amazing and to be honest I could describe the trouble they go to but I think that would spoil the surprise.

I can say without hesitation that I will be back again and again in the future.

Thank you both for a lovely weekend.
