The thing you remember the George for is its fab food, a simple menu, but classic Devon , packed with locally sourced ingredients. Eg my wife ordered the Trout and was assured that it was caught in the River Taw by the landladies son the day before.
We have now had a few meals there and never disappointed. Parking is useful, though round the back, so don't get stuck going round the square unnecessarily.
Weekends are good as they usually have live acts with dinner arranged around the "show".
