“A very nice Travelodge (I'll admit I was shocked)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012 via mobile

This is a very nice Travelodge - the staff are very friendly, helpful and polite. The rooms seem well maintained and very clean and the bed was comfy and the whole experience was exactly what you should expect from a well run budget hotel. I'll admit I was shocked only because of other TLodges I have experienced which had coloured my opinion of the brand somewhat!

Only two negatives - the car park and outdoor area had night lights/flood lamps installed but very few of them were on - very dark & I doubt the cameras can see well like that! Also the wall heater in room was a little bit past it & struggled with the cold weather!

“Just about ok as a base.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This hotel was clean but worn out. The room large and spacious.
The bed was comfy and we were quiet at the back away from the road, but unfortunately there was a hum to be heard all night from an unknown source.
The paint work shabby and the bathroom mouldy with old fittings.
The shower needed a very high IQ to work out and even the attendant had trouble demonstrating how to use it.
The heater in the room was only just adequate and as there was no heat in the bathroom, this meant a chilly time having a shower .
The telly was outdated old style tube TV with a flicker, and no guide available on what the 'internal programs' numbers meant..for example, the radio button on the remote displayed 'no radio available' but we discovered by accident radio 1 was number 14 and radio 2 number 15.
Also after paying over the top for a meal at the Little Chef, we were told (by chance) by a hotel attendant the next day that if we show our key at the resturant we are entitled to a discount. Too late.

Room Tip: Choose back of hotel away from cars but also away from the mystery humming noise.

“Perfect for stop-over, good sized family room.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Had a good stop over to break up a trip to Cornwall form Gloucestershire, nowhere to visit if walking but a short journey in the car takes you to a few small villages and attractions in a few minutes. We didn't use the Little Chef cafe as had read bad reviews. The room was reasonably clean and very spacious for what we needed. We requested an iron and ironing board in the morning which was delivered promptly. We had a large room at the back f the hotel and did not experience and road noise as such. The facilities were basic but adequate and and good value. Booking and checking in was hassle free.
Overall a good experience.

“Pleasant Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Just off the A30, handy if you are travelling down into Cornwall. Cost £101 for two nights. This Travelodge was cleaner than the Exeter Travelodge. It has a Little Chef next to it with reasonably priced meals, also petrol station. The rooms were clean as were the corridors and stairs. The bathroom is still an issue as the bath is small and shallow with a low shower. On the Saturday morning had a glass of orange juice and a biscuit given us as we were dashing out the door to reception. It was on a very small table in a very small hallway under the stairs. This was not advertised or any information given to us the night before about it! There was nothing on Sunday morning so don't really understand what it was about!! Would stay here again.

“Stay on the 20th December 2011”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

The first room, number 7, was extremely noisy in that there was a constant humming noise from the cupboard next the room. Also the shower did not have hardly enough pressure to enjoy a shower and there was evidence or black mould. on the plus, the bed was very comfortable.
We asked to be moved to an alternative room, the staff we very obliging with that and moved us to room 10. This was noticeably quieter and the shower head was a lot better to enjoy a shower. There was still evidence of mould in the bathroom and the bed on this occasion was so comfortable, but I was so tired after not sleeping very well from the night before I went straight off to sleep.
I did notice that there were very flies in the room and wasn't sure why.
Don't use the Little Chef it is very dated and the food is cold when served, go across to the lorry car park and there is wee cafe there that is reasonable and helpful.
Other than that an okay stay.

Room Tip: Do not stay in room 7
