I've always believed that it's not the place that matters but who you are with. I now believe that the place plays such huge part in that experience. The Two Bridges provides the atmosphere for the most excellent of breaks!
We were welcomed by three very white, very big geese who made sure we made as rapid an entrance to the hotel that we could manage and one massive duck which I do hope the chef doesn't have an eye on as an alternative 'fois gras' type thing.
I stayed with my new best friend for two nights in one of the 'historic' rooms - ironically we had joked days before in the theme of 'Gone with the Wind' ... 'quite frankly my dear' and 'not giving a damn' - we found ourselves in the Two Bridges historic room called 'Vivienne Leigh' - remarkable, fate, a sign! We'll see :) But most of all the most fantastic tribute to such a wonderful actress. I don't know what the other historic rooms hold but I am looking forward to our next visit to find out!
As for what most of you are reading to find out ...
The staff are absolutely the best, welcoming, friendly, nothing was too much trouble, took the time to make every guest feel special despite the pressure we know they are under to deliver the best service in such an establishment.
The food ... well where to begin .. from the coffee selection to the 'a la carte' menu, the wine list to the best breakfast selection I would ever want to experience - fantastic!!! As for breakfast hmmm finished at 09:30 & we had the audacity to turn up at 09:25 - absolutely no problem what so ever! I have experienced other establishments where you were obviously not turned away but oh boy did you know you were an absolute inconvenience, but not at the Two Bridges.
Oh and the 'piece de resistance' they have a chess board for the use of all guests (plus several other board games) - never played before but on an inclement Saturday afternoon what better way to pas the time - learnt to play & just happened to beat said new best friend!! feeling a bit smug about this!! :)
