“it is the same old plume still as good as ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

went to plume last couple of nights i must admit i was suprised to see so many bad comments about this great place ive been visiting since 1976 and i can report that yes the beer is still great the food also still great the place is still great as well and the landlord and staff very polite and friendly ,,,i dont see how people can put these daft comments on websites or perhaps they have reasons other than giving honest feed back
if you are in dartmoor then go and stay here or eat and drink as said its a great place (apart from the weather!!!!!)

“A good base...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

Four of us stayed a few nights here as a base for cycling around Dartmoor. The bunk room was small but clean and comfortable and as the only guests in the bunk house the bathroom and kitchen facilities were fine if not luxurious.

The pub had a good selection of local ale (The Dartmoor brewery is just up the road) and the staff were friendly. With an extensive menu the food varied in quality but was always decent. The british classics seemed to be the pick of the bunch and the grilled meats were excellent (lovely lamb cutlets and gammon). The only criticism would be that there was limited options for a vegetarian.

“Great specials board”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

We have been here quite a few times over the last year and always had a very enjoyable meal. They have traditional pub food with some nice locally sourced specials. The specials menu always has a wide variety of choice. My husband had pork belly and it was a huge portion. I had a rare steak and it was cooked to perfection. This pub is great after a walk on Dartmoor and is dog friendly. They also have lots of local ales and cider on tap. Very nice pub!

“Great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

We have visited a number of times of the years, and stayed in the campsite, bunkhouse and the older b & b rooms above the pub. This was out first visit back after a break of 4 years. We stayed this time at the newly aquired attached property (used to be the railway arms now an extension of the plume). The staff were all helpful and friendly. The service quick and reasonably priced. The food is good. The accomodation was good and clean and just what is required after a good days hiking.

“If you like good food then don't eat here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

We are a family if 5 and we ate in the plume of Feathers last night. We found the food over-priced and not even tasty. My fish (chosen from the specials board) didn't seem that fresh and tasted like it had been fried in old fat and I left my peas (I usually love peas). How can you get peas wrong! Children not that impressed by their meals despite their being lots of choice for kids on the menu. There is an extensive specials board- perhaps too extensive. Very nice half of cider though. Worth visiting if you only want a drink. Good playpark nearby for kids to play in but watch out for cars enetering car park in between the pub and the park entrance.
