I stayed just 2 days at Beechwood. The host and hostess were absolutely charming; pleasant, welcoming, friendly, but not overbearing. The room was fine with tea and coffee. The bedroom and bathroom were both spotlessly clean. The first night I went down to the local pub in the evening. The second night I stayed in the guest lounge with a bottle of red and a book.
Breakfast consisted of fruit, cereal, toast, granola and muesli, and a dream fried breakfast, with huge cafetiere of coffee.
The place is not posh, but it is absolutely charming with a wild butterfly meadow at the back, a breakfast room which gets the beautiful morning sun, and a garden with a couple of picnic tables to sit at on a sunny afternoon. It also belongs to the Dartmoor Wealth of Wildlife Association, recognising the importance of the butterfly meadows it has, and Beechwood's efforts to minimise carbon footprints and remain ecologically sound.
Adam and Lynette also provided good advice and gave great suggestions for walking and rambling around the immediate area, and have quite a few printed maps with routes on them which you can borrow to do walks of different lengths and difficulty around Postbridge and the White Tor.
I can't recommend this place enough!
