“Wonderful weekend away.”

What appeared to be roads on google maps, were in fact the driveways into the estate, which is rather large! Utterly beautiful to arrive with the evening sun hitting the castle and frost on the grass. Welcomed by a great team and roaring open fires. The room was absolutely beautiful, a great mix of character, space and modern utilities. Super warm which is the most important thing in staying in a castle in winter time! A great start to the weekend to have tea/drinks by the fire before a great supper. It is expensive this place, but so worth it. We really felt that we had got away for the weekend, everything about it made us feel welcomed but relaxed. You don’t really feel like you are in a big hotel – more a family house with great staff. We fancied going to the local pub, and were driven down there at a moment’s notice in one of their land rover fleet, and picked up with equal ease. The clay pigeon shooting was half fun and half lesson – great for all ages, experts or kids. Loved every moment and already can’t wait to go back.

Room Tip: go for one of the superior castle rooms with a view of the countryside. so lovely to wake up to a in...

Stayed in one of the lodges after last staying about 3 years ago. From the moment we arrived we were met by the portering team who offered to take our luggage. Check in was really quick and efficiently done. The lodge was excellent 3 luxurious rooms and best of all the fire - all our kids talked about all holiday was the fire and Federico ( but we will come to him in a minute). The swimming pool was great - just the right temperature and great jacuzzi at the end. We ate in the bistro at 645 and the children's menu was superb value for money whilst we were able to have a relaxing adult dinner. A few years ago the service in the bistro you had to get their attention but this time you had the head chef in there out front, Alec and the rest of the staff always checking if everything was okay and whilst it was busy. We had remembered Federico from last time but it was the first time our children who are 4 got to meet him. He was brilliant as he gave them both a lollipop and talked to them about making sure they ate ll of their dinner so they could watch the falconry show the next day - for the rest of the holiday they just kept asking to see Federico. The breakfast was also an improvement on last time both food and service - we liked last time but this time you ordered the hot food which was better quality and all of the staff seemed to know what they were doing and friendly. Would come back.

When I arrived at Bovey castle on crisp winters day with snow on the moors, i thought i had made a wrong turning somewhere and ended up in some remote scottish manor. The place looks stunning and the welcome by men in tweeds and plus fours only added to my confusion.

I had a buetifull room at the back of the hotel overlooking the golf course and river. My only complaint would be it was too warm and i had to turn the radiotors off and open some windows. The bar and restaurant all added to that scottish manor house feel and the service was generally excellent.

Wee worth a visit.

“Fab 40th”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Just come down to earth after a fantastic 3 night stay at Bovey Castle. We have stayed at the hotel several times with our children and dogs but decided to bring our closest friends for a weekend grown up treat. All i can say is that it was possibly the best weekend we have ever had. Everything was organised and laid on from the cars to take us to the local pub to the canapes infront of the fire. Louise and Fed did a fantastic job and we can't thank them enough. This hotel really goes the extra mile. Thankyou guys so much, we will be back!!!!! x

“Top class hotel in a stunning location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

A stunning location with incredible service, top class rooms, food and pool / spa facilities.
From the moment you step into Bovey, you know you have made the right choice.
Friendly welcome from the staff, who remember your name during your stay, ushered into the grand room with various sofas / chairs for a welcome drink, sat in front of the open fire.
We stayed in a Valley room at the top of Bovey, overlooking the stunning valley view. The room was perfect, lots of space and the bed extremely comfortable.
Food was excellent and again the service was superb.
The falconry display is complimentary and well worth seeing. The walks are absolutely stunning, with various country pubs en route.

Special mention goes to Frederico the Hotel Manager, as on all of my various travels he is up there with the best for giving that personal service.
Our trip went back to last February, apologies for the late posting !
My girlfriend and myself went away for the Valentine weekend and stayed at Bovey and during our stay I propsed to my girlfriend.
As I wanted everything to be perfect, I was asking Frederico from when I booked it till the end of our stay for various things and questions, he must have been bored by the end of it but he was superb, patient and helped organise all I needed.
Including personally dropping us both off in the Range Rover at Exeter Train Station at the end of the trip and after the proposal bringing us champagne to celebrate.
Top class and we will be back, probably on our 1st year anniversary. Hope that Frederico is still there !

Yes as some people have mentioned it is pricey and the service charge is placed on everything but it is worth it, no doubt !

Just go and enjoy it !
