Just came back from weekend stay with groupon the room was dirty net curtain had holes all over wall paper falling of walls and bathroom dirty i have never seen something so old fash. The three course meal on first evening what a joke the choice of mains were sausage and mash. Cod morney or mushroom bolonaise breakfast was good and staff nice we were in room 9.

We spent the wekend at this hotel with our friends on a Groupon deal which we felt was good value for money; however if we had paid the full tariff price we would have been very short changed! I agree with Angela this hotel could be a really good place, it is in a good location and there is everything you need to have a good time away. It's true the hotel needs a major modernisation programme and a good spring clean but the bedding and towels were spotless and the food was good. We only saw 2 staff the whole time we were there but the guys were very pleasent and more than helpfull. Would we return? Maybe if we knew there had been some changes!!!

This hotel has it all, nice size bedrooms, good food, friendly staff, indoor pool, gym, sauna all in a beautiful location. But this is slightly ruined by the tatty curtain pelmets, dated decor, mildew around the bath, grubby lampshades and cobwebs.
We'd heard that the hotel was in administration so they obviously don't have the money to do it up which is such a shame.
We made the best of it and had a good time, I hope someone will buy it soon and give it the tlc it needs.

This place could be so great with 10k spent on it, but sadly is a bit grubby & totally run down, it was so frustrating as I just wanted to get some bleach, a pot of paint & get stuck in tidying the place up!
My sister & I just made the most of it, our room was a good size & generally clean, but with the curtain pelmet hanging off, an old grubby lamp shade & mould on the grout! Why?! All these things could be fixed so easily!
We loved the local area & had fun looking round Bovey & had great walk on the moor, we used the little run down gym & got a workout out of it, then used the pool, little jucuzzi & sauna, which were nice. The food was good, simple home cooking but very tasty.
My advice is expect the worst on the cleanliness/tatty front, (just try & ignore it) but just enjoy the area, pool, sauna, bar & food.
