“John and Tess have thought of everything!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2010

I expected my stay to be good from reading previous reviews but it was even better than I expected. I stayed for a couple of nights on a business and leisure trip and was extremely comfortable and made to feel very welcome.

The breakfasts are exceptional - so much choice and lovely, fresh, ingredients well cooked and presented.

My room had everything I could want and more. If asked how John and Tess could make improvements I would have to say I can't really think of any - there were lots of extra little touches and everything exceptionally clean.

Thank you, and hope to be back.

“Fantastic!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2010

I would like to add to all the other reviews by saying this is a fabulous place to stay! Tess and John really go the extra mile to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The breakfast is superb, the rooms very comfortable and overall excellent value. We enjoyed the friendly chats over breakfast and couldnt have been made to feel more welcome. We left wondering why we have ever stayed in inpersonal, over priced hotels! Please book a stay at the Brookside while you stay in this beautiful area - it will make your trip even more special.

“John & Tess at Brookside provide the service, comfort & personal touches top hotels can't offer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

Beautifully presented rooms, amazingly thought-through breakfast choices, a genuinely warm welcome and surrounding it all, the ability of the owners to be available and helpful to just the right degree, made our stay at Brookside in Brixham really special. The proprietors describe their Guest House as 'Boutique Hotel style' and this is entirely right. I've paid vast amounts more when staying at say, a Malmaison type place without ever having the warmth of welcome and feeling that my custom was appreciated. At Brookside, with sumptuous cotton sheeted beds in tasteful and immaculate rooms through to the breakfast menu that's both traditional and innovative to suit your whims, you feel really lucky to have hit upon this absolute gem of a place. When you consider how easy it is to book in at a B&B/Small hotel and encounter a tired feel to match their complacent service, Brookside is a real find. And if Brixham's the question, it's a great location to enjoy the timeless seaside charms or explore the beauty of the South Hams area to the south. Debate no longer - go to Brookside!

“'Everything' was FIRST CLASS, from start to finish!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

If you want want to feel completely spoiled and pampered and have a relaxing holiday, then we would certainly recommend Brookside. John and Tess were wondeful hosts and made us feel welcome. We enjoyed the tea and cakes on arrival - a lovely and welcome touch after a long drive!

We stayed in the junior suite whiich was very comfortable, had a modern and fresh feel and the extra sitting area made all of the difference!

Breakfasts- well, they were absolutely fantastic and we would recommend the 'haddock hash' as well as everything else that's on the extensive menu!

Thank you John and Tess, we had a wonderful and relaxing holiday and look forward to seeing you both again.

“Excellent Accommodation and Lovely People”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2010

This is a great B&B which offers very comfortable accommodation and a superb breakfast. John and Tess are lovelly people and nothing was too much trouble. They weree happy to advise on places to go and things to see all of which were excellent. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to the area.

The property is within an easy 5-10 minute walk from the town which has some good restaurants and lots to do.
