I work all over the south west regeon and this hotel is one of my regular stops. I stay at the White Horse because for me its just right in so many ways. Great location (very quiet), great people and very clean, comfortable rooms.

I agree with most of the comments made by the previous reviewers this year - overall excellent value for money. Only three minor quibbles in my mind detracted from the stay and meant that I couldn't award 5 stars. These were:

A) All the staff were very friendly with the exception of an older male, who made me feel that I was a bit of a nuisance staying there.

B) The firedoors, which must be kept closed according to fire regulations and safety, were all wedged open.

C) The approach is not that inviting - it is alongside a pub and a railstation (although the latter is for tourist steam trains which look very nice and only run during the day)

Our second stay and still exactly the same as it was 2 years ago with a warm welcome, lovely people and great food, and very CLEAN exceptional value for money.

The hoteliers couldn't have been more helpful. The single room was the most spacious and best equipped on my stays in Devon.
All staff were very friendly, breakfast was wonderful, nothing was too much trouble.
Everyone had time to talk to you, to advise on where to go in Devon, whatever the weather. No -ne made you feel hurried , it was as if we were treasured guests of the family.
Ihave stayed there twice now and would not hesitate to book, or recommend it.
