“very smart boutique hotel”

stayed here during a business trip. rooms are very well appointed. beds are very comfortable. the only down side that i had about the hotel is the lack of Wifi. to get into the carpark is very narrow but once inside the court yard there is ample parking. the bar is very charming and the staff were all very friendly. i would stay here again.

“Duke of Marvellous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

Stayed for three nights 20th - 23rd October and was a little concerned at one or two previous comments regarding a narrow entrance arch leading to the car park, as my car, whilst not huge is still a decent size (A6), but had no difficulty with entering or leaving through the archway.
Our room was in the courtyard complex and was modern, comfortable and well maintained, perfect for our holiday. The hotel location could not be better for ease of access to the town centre and harbour areas.
Nothing is too much trouble for the fabulous friendly staff and this extended to the restaurant, my wife has special dietary requirements and the staff ensured that she did not lose out on the dining experience by ensuring her dietary needs were well catered for. On the subject of the menu, I cannot recommend highly enough the fantastic value available on the 'tennerfest' menu!!
As a business traveller on the mainland I spend approx 80 - 100 nights a year in hotels and know that regular business travellers are quite selective on where they stay(it has to be good)
I was therefore pleased to see that this hotel has a regular core of business visitors, thereby in my mind confirming its' quality and value.
We shall certainly return to this little gem.

“hidden treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

One has a mental picture of the destination...this one defies description! found on the net, and booked with the thought that it was 'central' prooved to be a gamble. This is a hilly town! We found it and WOW, it was good. If you arrive by car it requires considerable navigational skill to deal with narrow one way streets. If you arrive by bicycle off the ferry like us...well we should have followed the walking instructions rather than the driving ones! ( It is almost impossible to actually CYCLE to the hotel...you will discover what I mean.) ( There are very few that are different to get to.) Anyway, all that aside it is truely central, and we soon adapted to the location. The room was modern and spacious. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom airy and modern too...everything worked and there were no issues at all. The room service (we were there for 3 nights) respected the towels in the bath replacement policy. The WiFi worked. Breakfast was more than adequete, and the staff were courteous and good humoured. The first night meal in the bar was sufficicient and hearty. This hotel is very close to the Guernsey Millenium Tapestry and is really worth a visit (not on Sundays). This was a great location at a good price for 3 days and we will talk about it for a number of years! Well Done Duke of Normandie.

“Fantastic value for money and a great weekend break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Duke of Normandie last weekend during a weekend break in Guernsey. It was my first visit to the island and after reading a number of reviews on here we decided to take up people's advice. It certainly lived up to expectation. The rooms were lovely- very modern and extremely comfortable. A fantastic location just a short walk to the harbour and right in the centre of town, although tucked away nicely from the main action. We had the tennerfest menu on the Friday night and the food was gorgeous. The staff were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for you. There is a lovely little pub on site (with Sky Sports for any sports fans) with very efficient and friendly staff. I honestly couldn't recommend it highly enough. For what we paid in return to what we received we got an unbelievable dela. Had such a great experience I'm not even going to bother looking for somewhere new to stay as this had everything we needed- Can't wait to go back!

“Excellent for Business!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

I have been staying at the Duke of Normandie for at least 12years. I visit Guernsey for business about every 2 months so I speak totally from experience when I say that you won't find a better hotel for price, service, quality of room and location! Over the years I have also stayed at many of the other hotels on the island but have generally been disappointed with what you get for your money. The Duke of Normandie has gone through a major overhaul in the past 5 or 6 years and is nothing like how it used to be several years ago when it was pretty much a tourist hotel mainly geared to tourists. Not any more! The renovations have turned the majority of the rooms into first class rooms or in many cases mini suites with all the comfort and facilities you,d expect from a business hotel. I frequenly meet local clients in my room and they are so impressed with the level of quality that they list the hotel on their recommended hotels for their visiting clients. So even Guernsey people who remember the old hotel are pleasantly surprised by how amazing the new rooms look. Additionally and most importantly the service on all levels is fantastic. Everyone is extremely friendly and can't do enough for you! I always look forward to going back. It's my home away from home! If you're considering a great hotel in Guernsey look no further!
