“Small and friendly hotel in the centre of Guernsey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

The Fleur is a small and friendly hotel with a lovely beer garden. We enjoyed sitting in the sun with a drink. We had one of the Garden Rooms which was modern and nicely decorated with a spacious and well fitted en-suite. A patio door opened from the seating area of the room out to a small garden complete with table and chairs. The bed was not the most comfortable, the double being made up of two singles pushed together. Breakfast was pleasant. We did not eat dinner in the restaurant as we wanted to sample other restaurants on the Island. The hotel is centrally located making it easy to get to all parts of the Island. Although our room was close to the road we did not suffer from noise. The staff were friendly and helpful.

“A really good place to stay.”

This was my 40th birthday weekend away with my close family. There had been a problem earlier in the day and our room was not available. But the roome they gave us was lovely, the only problem with it was the noise from the road at night. We were moved the the garden room, which again i could not fault. Even the road noise was gone. The food was very good and value for money. The staff and overall service was faultless. I would recommend this location and hotel to anyone.

“Don't Linger”

The setting of this hotel/ restaurant is beautiful; the decor is traditional yet stylish. The choice of food in the restaurant/bar is varied and on the whole very good. However we were extremely disappointed with the service. Menus are shoved in your face at full throttle when you arrive. Our waiter returned to our table three times in the space of half an hour after we apologetically asked for more time to make our menu choices. My husband politely asked for a 10 minute break between courses but obviously this wasn't possible as the second course was whipped out out the kitchen within a short space of the last gulp of our starters. The waiter cleared our table as soon as we had finished our main course, uttering "Desserts or coffees?" in the similarly hurried tone of the evening. The restaurant certainly wasnt busy so we cannot understand why the staff were in such a hurry to get rid of diners. Management was scarce so we felt unable to voice our complaints. A very disappointing and unrelaxing evening. I am sure one would be able to relax and unwind more at a McDonalds!

“A fantastic hotel with fantastic staff in a fantastic location.”

We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary by staying at the Fleur du Jardin. It was our first time in Guernsey since our honeymoon and several things on the island had changed, but not the idyllic location of the hotel or the friendliness of the staff. Our room had a good view towards Vazon Bay and included all we could have wished for. Meal times in the excellent dining room were good value for money. As the hotel is situated in the country it provides a really central location for discovering all the island has to offer, with a reliable bus service on the doorstep for those not wishing to take the car. But perhaps the real highlight was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, who went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We will return, and it will be sooner rather than later!

“An attractive friendly and independent small hotel with generally good service and food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2009

We spent a week on B & B basis. Hotel in west of island in pleasant village setting, easy to find. Room at back of hotel (but no noise) a little dated and with squeaky floor but clean and spacious with large modern bathroom. Comfortable bed, slept very well. Terrible TV reception on BBC1/2 and ITV 3/4 but this didn't worry us. Attractive garden and large patio used for al fresco dining.
Attractive beamed bar and eating areas in old part of building (watch out for low beams). Bar popular with locals as well as tourists with 2 real ales from mainland UK changed every 3-4 days but a shame there were no local island beers eg Randalls. Dinner popular with visitors as well as guests, reserve a table at breakfast time. Good choice of cooked breakfast dishes and excellent wet and dry fruit salads. Wide range of fish, meat and vegetarian dinner dishes of generally excellent quality and quantity with occasional slips eg unripe avocado, salad totally smothered in dressing. Excellent sandwiches provided on request on a Sunday evening. A good reasonably priced wine list.
Lady owner very welcoming and helpful with suggestions for sightseeing, walks etc. Staff appeared to be a mix of UK students plus Eastern European and French. Service in general very good, friendly and efficient. A couple of lapses at busy times with a 25 min wait for toast and a 25 min wait for drinks at dinner. And the blonde 'front of house' lady escorting you to your table could try smiling at times.
Internet access available in the lounge area, no trouble in getting connected.
Requested newspapers delivered each morning except the first.
Overall a very pleasant independent hotel with generally good service, food and drink.
