“As an Australian would say... I'll give this one a guernsey”

My wife and I stayed at the Cobo Bay Hotel for several nights last October. We found it to be very comfortable. It is a well positioned, medium size hotel.
Office staff were competent and made us feel welcome. Our room, one floor up was very good. The hotel is separated from a beach by a narrow road. The beach is a good swimming spot although, in October, with the water temperature at 14C degrees, it is a challenge for Australians like us.
Breakfast at the hotel was a memorable experience. There was a great view from the dining room across the bay in front of the hotel. The self-serve food was very good and was in abundance. Cooked meals were available if desired.. Our fellow diners looked as though they came out of an E.M. Forster novel, very English, mostly over 60 (like us) sitting up in silence as they ate their breakfast... the men with ties, some studying the morning paper ...the Telegraph...of course. The waiters, with due reverence, accompanied each sentence with a very respectful "sir/madam".
At the other end of the spectrum ... on one evening, a noisy party was being held in a reception room immediately below our accommodation. Compounding the situation, all smokers at the party moved outside (right under our window) to indulge. chatting loudly while they were there.
As many of the partygoers were staying the hotel overnight, perhaps management could consider in future, putting partygoers in rooms above the party and placing non-partygoers in rooms further away from the noise.
We had an excellent, filling dinner at the adjoining building, which, I understand is part of the hotel complex.
A bus outside the door connects the hotel with St.Peter Port and the rest of the island.

For those who do not understand "Äustralianisms", let me assure you ...the title of this review is complimentary!

We would be very happy to stay at the Cobo Bay again and recommend it to all.

Room Tip: Ask if any parties are planned during your stay. If the answer "ÿes", ask for a room away...

“Absolutely Fabulous Hotel with stunning views”

First vist to Guernsey and The Cobo Hotel. We stayed for 4 nights in a sea view room with balcony.Room extremely comfortable, clean and all the "little personel touches" made the whole experience very special. The staff very friendly and helpful. In the beautiful resturant we were spoilt for choice with the excellent quality of the food served.Although the weather could have been better but as it was December it was to be expected but this didnt dampen our spirits to visit and tour the island knowing we were coming back to such a warm and inviting hotel. Would thoroughly recommend a visit to The Cobo Bay, we will definately be going back, perhaps the next time we will go in the summer and take advantage of the glorious sunsets everyone on the island had told us about. “Stunning views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

Stayed at The Cobo Hotel for a couple of nights in a sea view room with a balcony. What stunning views of the sea. The room was a decent size with a large comfy bed.
All very clean and a nice vibe to the hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. As its was November the outside decking area was closed down for the winter but I would imagine it would be great in the summer.

Breakfasts are very nice.

The one thing that I think could be improved upon is the balcony area outside of the bedrooms. It would be much more more private if the rooms were sectioned off and had their own private balconies as opposed to one long open stretch.

The local bus service runs from almost outside of the house and is very regular to the Port and airport.

I would definitely stay there again if in Guernsey.

Room Tip: Definitely pay the extra and opt for seaview.

“Just an excellent hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

This is a 3 star rated hotel, that treats you with 5 star luxury! Recently spent 2 nights there, and everything was just superb. We had a standad double room, but it had just about everything you need in the way of luxury, down to fresh fruit daily! The setting was lovely, right on the coast road, and for those who don't have a car, it's right on the main number 7 bus route that goes right around the island. The staff are very courteous and helpfull, and the food in the rastaurant is just wonderful. Maybe back again soon. If you book here, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Get a sea view if possible, the view is stunning!

“Fabulous Cobo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

What a lovely underrated Hotel. Had a 3 night stay in a side sea-view room (more like a suite) with a very comfortable bed with nice touches of fresh fruit, biscuits and chocs on arrival. Although we were B+B we decided to try dinner as it was 'Tennerfest' month,(participating restaurants in Guernsey offering main courses for £10) with Cobo Bay taking part, the menu varied and delicious for all courses. The breakfasts are freshly cooked to order and also fresh fruit, cereals and pastries etc. Although there were two parties taking place in the hotel we were not disturbed at all. All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Views from the restaurant are fab looking across Cobo Bay. All in all a cracking hotel and excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Our side view room was large some boiler/a.con noise but double glazed.
