My wife and I stayed at the Cobo Bay Hotel for several nights last October. We found it to be very comfortable. It is a well positioned, medium size hotel.
Office staff were competent and made us feel welcome. Our room, one floor up was very good. The hotel is separated from a beach by a narrow road. The beach is a good swimming spot although, in October, with the water temperature at 14C degrees, it is a challenge for Australians like us.
Breakfast at the hotel was a memorable experience. There was a great view from the dining room across the bay in front of the hotel. The self-serve food was very good and was in abundance. Cooked meals were available if desired.. Our fellow diners looked as though they came out of an E.M. Forster novel, very English, mostly over 60 (like us) sitting up in silence as they ate their breakfast... the men with ties, some studying the morning paper ...the Telegraph...of course. The waiters, with due reverence, accompanied each sentence with a very respectful "sir/madam".
At the other end of the spectrum ... on one evening, a noisy party was being held in a reception room immediately below our accommodation. Compounding the situation, all smokers at the party moved outside (right under our window) to indulge. chatting loudly while they were there.
As many of the partygoers were staying the hotel overnight, perhaps management could consider in future, putting partygoers in rooms above the party and placing non-partygoers in rooms further away from the noise.
We had an excellent, filling dinner at the adjoining building, which, I understand is part of the hotel complex.
A bus outside the door connects the hotel with St.Peter Port and the rest of the island.
For those who do not understand "Äustralianisms", let me assure you ...the title of this review is complimentary!
We would be very happy to stay at the Cobo Bay again and recommend it to all.
