“very welcome and homily feel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Hi we stayed twice in 2011. My husband and i went to Jersey to visit my son, his wife and our 2 grandchildren, as they have no room we were looking for something in the area not to exepensive or too frilly but with good service! Well this place met it all, we paid £60.00 a night for the room and breakfast (£30.00 each).
Our first stay this year was in april and our Second in October and its all the little extras that make this place so welcomming. In april we were there for the royal wedding and we were all served a glass of Champagne at breakfast, then a few days later we had hot cross buns for Good Friday and on easter sunday there were mini chocolate eggs on the tables and Chocolate Easter bunnies in the bedroom!
During October, Marina the owner remebered that I liked honey & lemon in my tea and had this ready and available at the first breakfast - now thats service!!
excellent choice at breakfast 5 or 6 different things to chose from and a help yourself table with cereals and fruit salad, prunes etc.
The room was warm and cosy and had a tea tray which was regularly topped up. and we also liked the quiet room downstairs where we sat in the afternoon to read and rest before our son picked us up.
Another nice touch was that our grandchildren were invited to come for breakfast so my son dropped them off early and we had a family table for the 4 of us in the window - the kids felt very important!!
We have booked again for Easter 2012 and now we have found this place we will stay regularly as its so convenient.
It was about 10 minutes to walk to the shopping centre and about 15 min to the bus station but you can get number 18 which stops almost at the end of the road - its about a 3 minute walk and that takes you into the bus station - buy a ticket for the day and you can have unlimited travel!
We were very happy there and look forward to going back and seeing our hosts who we now think of as friends!

“Very nice B&B centrally located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2010

I stayed for 2 nights in September 2009, costing around £25 per night (ish, I can't remember exactly.) I had a twin room to myself, ensuite with shower. B&B had Wifi, which worked fine. Very nice owners, fantastic breakfast and quiet location yet central. Very close to seaside and in nice part of St Helier, I would recommend. You can also rent a bicycle of £10/day and the cycles were of a good standard.

“Excellent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2009

Reading some of the reviews I wonder if I was staying at the same place or was it a case of poor weather affecting folk but we had no problems with the facilities .
.My wife and I had an excellent two weeks in Fairholme with no problems with our room, there were excellent meals morning/evening with plenty of choice and a bar. Helpful advice was available to all the guests of whatever nationality. Nothing was too much trouble. We hope to stay there in the future .Perhaps we were just lucky with the weather but I do not really think so.We would recomend to any one as an excellent Value for Money Guesthouse 5 mins walk from St Helier.

“Our lovely stay at The Fairholme”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2009

A really pleasant family run guest house. Staff and owners were friendly and full of great advice on how to enjoy our holiday on Jersey. Especially loved the lobster dinner. Our holiday was about getting out and about in Jersey, which Marina (owner) helped us plan so we made the most of our weeks stay. It's such good value. Will be back and recommend others to stay.

“Unsatisfactory Stay”

My partner and I stayed for just under a week at the Fairholme Guest House and were pleased at first, we felt that we were staying in a comfortable place, where we would receive the great service any holiday maker deserves.
After arriving early, we waited in the small lounge area until we could go to our room. After a reasonable amount of time waiting we were led to our room and were greeted by warn carpets, faded bedsheets with holes in them, and an en suite with what looked like an ex public toilet. After being left to explore the room, we found that the shower took a long time to heat up and even then it was only slightly warm and the flow of water was more of a trickle. Furthermore, the bathroom floor tiles were wobbly and with no room to swing a cat I often found myself catching my toes on the wobbling tile in order to avoid walking into the sink.
Facilities within the room were not satisfactory either, as the kettle was burnt on the inside and still had water in it from the previous guests.
The pillows provided were flat, and the only two that helped to possibly bring a decent nights sleep were taken from our room and never returned.
Cleaning and maintenance was not taken as seriously as it should have been!

After two further experiences that I feel are unnecessary to mention our stay at the guest house had reached its end, which my partner and I were happy about.
Being treated like we were after one experience was terrible, and I feel upset that we did not get treated well by our "hosts" and the care and support was not there.
Money is clearly all that matters here.

I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I agree with the previous comment that the guest house owners have become very complacent and are not providing a good service at all.
The only good service we received was by one other member of staff, who was very helpful.

My partner and I were very disappointed!
