We stayed here just after New Year and feel like we were in a different hotel than other reviewers. Having seen such great comments we were really looking forward to our stay away, but had a disappointing visit. The Bohemia Restaurant and Bar were not open on either of the nights, which we hadn’t been told about, which left just the Honesty Bar and Club Restaurant, where service appeared to be at the staff’s discretion as to which customers had table service and which (us) had to fend for themselves. Nice idea to have an Honesty Bar for after hours, but when you’ve paid to stay in a hotel, you do want a full bar – we had been looking forward to having a few New Year cocktails. And when my husband asked for a brandy after his dinner, he was told that the Honesty Bar had run out and because the Bohemia Bar was closed, he couldn’t have one! We found the restaurant staff were generally a little ‘off’ as if they really didn’t want to have to serve you (exception to one lady at the end of our stay) and we had many occasions of simply trying to be understood. Treatments were nice, massage very good and lovely beautician, but set up of the spa was a little odd with guests only allowed to use the facilities if they have booked treatments on that day. Room was small considering it was a Studio Suite and bathroom much the same, with a very small corner shower and a rather tired flower arrangement of a piece of bamboo stuck in some mouldy water. The view, as others have stated, was not great – we had the multi-storey and public toilets. Be prepared to pay extra for everything as gratuity charges are included right from a sandwich to a treatment. Most disappointingly is that I wrote to the General Manager about our stay and I haven’t had a reply.
