“Ideal For A Visit To Jersey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

First visit to Jersey last week Sunday through till Thursday flying with Flybe and have to say very impressed all round. The Mayfair Hotel rooms are spacious with all that you would require and it is in an ideal location for the main shopping centre. The breakfast was very good with all the options from prunes to cereals. Breakfasts were made to order with choice of cooked eggs etc. We did not eat in the Hotel in the evenings so cannot comment on the restaurant. We chose to eat out and there is an abdunace of restaurants within walking distance.
In summary, very satisfied with the Hotel and the staff were good.

“Clean, economical hotel but dated and very tired in some places”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

This hotel, despite the reception being modern and clean, was not reflected in other parts. Our family room, with bunk beds had very dated decor, however was clean and had ample space for the four of us. The breakfasts were good, with a great selection. Parking was available on site and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Coud do with a good lick of paint an new carpets in the hall and stairs leading to the bedrooms. The beds in the room had seen better days, mattresses were not very comfortable and very aged!
Caution the walls are paper thin!

we travelled to this hotel in may last year....and im afraid to say my review, which i submitted last year, wasnt very nice....this was our fourth visit here.....i did say on my last review that we wouldnt go back......but ( and after reading the managers comments, which i have taken on board , i would like to thank the manager for reading the review ) i have decided to return to the mayfair and give it another chance and made a booking for may this year , it is a good hotel ideally sittuated in st hellier , there was just a few problems at the time which were being addressed by management.....but....if we go there and things havnt changed.....i will be back on tripadvisor with a vengance.
I have given the rooms and service low scores in this review because these were things that i wasnt to happy with.....but recheck my previous review for a more accurate account.

Room Tip: an outside room

“Needs a coat of paint”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

On first sight this looks a nice 3* hotel. On closer inspection the hotel needs a lick of paint. The bedrooms are quite spacious but the decor is very sad. This can also be said of the other public rooms.

The tabled'hote menu consisted of a choice of three starters, soup course, three or four mains and the same in desert or cheese and biscuits.

Staff (mostly Portuguese) were both courteous and helpful. Unfotunately sometimes the service was too fast and you got your next course immediately after the previous one. A request for a break met with a blank look.

The hotel is generally clean and tidy but needs sprucing up.

Room Tip: Try not to get a room above the restaurant as this is where most of the entertainment takes place.

“Good location, clean rooms and helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

The location is great - just 5-10 minutes walk to the centre of St Helier, on the other side of town from the sea front. As other reviewers have said, the whole hotel can be a bit too warm. Our room was above a function room which was a bit noisy one evening until around 11pm, and the view from our window consisted of 3 pieces of wooden fencing - was there something they didn't want us too see? I think sometimes when you book a cheap deal you can often get one of the worst rooms available. The room was 126 if you want to avoid it.

Having said all that, on the whole the hotel is fine, and seems worth more than just the 3 stars. The staff at reception were always very friendly and helpful, and they had up-to-date news on ferry crossings, as the weather was a bit rough.

Breakfast consists of continental buffet and a cooked breakfast to order. If a big coach party is in, as seemed to be when we were there, it can get crowded in the breakfast room, and it seems they want to place you at specific tables, even if you'd rather just sit in a quiet corner.

Room Tip: avoid 126 if you don't want noise from the function room below, or if you do want any kind of vi...
