“Comfortable Stay”

Overall, I was satisfied with my experience at the Apollo Hotel. Staff was very friendly, breakfast was good, room was sufficiently spacious, and bed was comfortable to sleep in.

Couple things worth noting though, that I think could use some improvement.
1) It was a little difficult to properly regulate the temperature of the shower
2) The hotel as I know directly owns 2 restaurants, one more formal which requires a reservation (the same place where you eat breakfast) - no problems with that. But they have a second restaurant, part of which occupies the same space as the indoor pool. And it's not a very pleasant experience eating with the constant smell of chlorine in the air and warm humidity from the indoor heated pool.
3) Free wifi in the rooms would have been nice. They offered it in the lobby, and sometimes I could catch a connection in my room as it was basically right above the lobby, but it would often disconnect (maybe at times when the bandwidth would get too busy, although that is speculation).

On a sidenote (and this has nothing to do with the hotel itself), you might find all the one-way streets confusing if you're renting a car and parking at the hotel. Took me a good 2-3 days just to get a good grasp on the layout of the land. If at all possible, bring a GPS (I didn't have one), or ask at reception for a map with a trace of the simplest & most effective route to get back to the hotel. The person at the desk may not be able to help you immediately as many people in Jersey do not commute by car, but they should be able to consult with the hotel manager who knows his way around. So the best thing to do really if you're moving around by car is to ask at reception the night you check in for the best directions on how to get drive back to the hotel, so that you can at least have your answer the next day.

“Good breakfast”

Stayed here between Christmas and the New Year. The breakfast is a help yourself and you can have as much as you like. Staff pleasant. Room at the back overlooking car park and we didn't find it at all noisy. Cleanliness in room good. Would we stay again - yes.

“Pictures can be very misleading”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I went here with my girlfriend and a large group of friends (10 or so) and I must say that it is a very strange hotel. From the pictures you see it looks lovely with very big pool, lovely rooms etc but the reality is the hotel is very dated. The pool is compact shall we say and with our bedroom window backing onto that area very noisy at times but there is a second indoor pool (smaller again) but this is located in the part of the hotel where there is a pizza shop. On one night we went in for a swim and some friends were in having their dinner.

The rooms were clean but old and dated again, depending on what part of the hotel you were in there was a labyrinth to get from your room to the main reception hall. I think there are only three lifts in the hotel as well and I was in both of them, they are to say the least not very spacious, two are very similar where they loaded 3 bags in and we were told to take the stairs where the third (down near the pool/pizza shop) was even smaller where two people would have to stand nose to nose to fit in, not very comfortable when you dont know the person.

Don't get me wrong most of the staff were lovely and friendly and the breakfast that we got each morning was ok (although the same every morning), it really was not value for money and we will not be going back to this hotel as you would expect a lot more for the prices we paid.

Overall the hotel is quite dated and old fashioned in its décor but it also feels like it has had many extensions with no real plan of what was next. Our next trip to Jersey shall be another hotel on the beautiful island of Jersey.

Room Tip: If you can get one as for a room that does not have a window that backs onto the main pool area. I...

“Jacuzzi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed for five nights in this hotel during the NY holidays. The hotel is good for a 3 star, breakfast excellent good food however it could have been varied when we had such a long stay. The most important thing to mention is to be aware of the cleanliness of the jacuzzi, I became ill with a viral infection after using it for a couple of days, not sure if this was caused by the use of jacuzzi but it seemed dirty. I enquired with manager and was told they change the water once a week!! However if you have had quite a few people using it on a daily basis, it does become dirty and dangerously full of germs??
It was also a shame that we were not offered a discount on the NYE dinner party rate of £59 p.p. although we were staying there, but there was an offer to people coming to the party to stay for an additional £25? which if it was done the other way around, we would have stayed for the party??

Room Tip: Don't ask for a room with a balcony, only four available and not a big deal, plus you need to pa...

“great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We stayed here over the new year and found that the hotel exceeded all our expectations, the staff were friendly and most helpful, the breakfast was excellent, the room was excellent and the king sized bed was an unexpected bonus.
We used the indoor pool which was warm, clean and a very pleasant place to spend a very wet (outside) afternoon.
We will return as soon as possible
