“Excellent restaurant; very good hotel; beautiful views.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012 via mobile

We stopped just one night in February. The hotel had just reopened after having been closed for repairs, and the swimming pool wasn't yet operational. However, we were given a complimentary upgrade to the Atlantic Suite, and the manager offered to take us to the pool at another hotel nearby. The best feature is the restaurant - excellent food, fully reflective of the Michelin star, served by very professional and friendly staff. The sommelier deserves particular praise for his helpful and entertaining descriptions of the wines that accompanied each course of the tasting menu. The second best feature is the fantastic view of St Ouen Bay and the open sea.

“Gourmet Break”

If you like Michelin starred food and service to match then this is “the” place for you. Ocean Restaurant where we have dined on many occasion is faultless. The hotel and restaurant has a colonial feel and is set in an ideal location far away from the madding crowds so I would say car hire is essential. There are plenty of activities on site such as use of an indoor and outdoor pool, tennis court and golf course. We stayed here for one night over Christmas and we were welcomed by the Hotel Manager and informed of a complementary room upgrade which was just wonderful. I would mention though that this hotel is best suited to the summer months to take advantage of the beautiful sun terrace overlooking the pool and over St Ouen’s Bay which in my opinion must be one of the best views in Jersey.
All in all a beautiful place to relax and unwind and a must for food lovers.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are more expensive but worth it. All rooms are similar apart from the Suites which a...

“Gracious hospitality in a beautiful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

We wanted to get away for a relaxing break just before Christmas and this was the ideal place! We were upgraded to a sea-facing room which enabled us to look out on a stormy sea, with waves crashing, trees swaying and rain lashing - quite a spectacle! Inside it was warm and cosy and the personal service provided by the staff was quite exceptional. We ate one evening in the Michelin starred restaurant - the food was indeed delicious but the table d'hote at £55 was a little overpriced to say the least, which probably accounted for the fact that it was more or less empty. The manager and his young French staff provided exceptional service. We discovered the Wayside cafe at St Brelades Bay nearby which provided a cheaper option with well-cooked interesting food at a quarter of the price and right on the beach. The swimming pool and spa area was a nice bonus, especially as we had it completely to ourselves! All in all, a lovely hotel with gracious hospitality in a beautiful location.

“Stunning setting, service and attention to detail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

The primary attraction for my recent stay was without doubt the setting of this hotel on the West coast of Jersey. The views are breathtaking across St Ouen's Bay and The Atlantic Ocean and on a clear day you can see Guernsey and some of the smaller Channel Islands.

I have to mention the quality of the staff. From the moment you are greeted until the moment you depart, you will experience world-class service.

Ocean Restaurant was another reason for staying and will be my primary reason for returning. Michelin Star food of the highest quality and unlike many fine dining restaurants, I found the food unpretentious, incredible to look at and most importantly, stunning to eat.

We had the taster menu, which didn't break the bank and I challenge even the hardiest of diners not to feel well and truly satisfied after the 7th course!

What made the stay even better, was the hand made sweets served with coffee and the fact that the chef had taken the time to write 'Happy Birthday' in chocolate for my partner.

The rooms are very stylish and of course if you are lucky enough to have an ocean view room, you get to wake-up to that incredible view.

I was also very pleased to find that the full English breakfast was included in the price of the room.

This is a hotel truly worthy of its membership to Small Luxury Hotels of the world and anyone who wants the highest quality but would like the luxury with a bit of peace and quiet will not be disappointed.

This is the reason why I joined SLH in the first place... well done.

Room Tip: To really take advantage of the unique setting, opt for an Ocean View Room.
