We have stayed in a number of Handpicked Hotels and this wouldn't be one of our favourites. Our "Classic" room was tiny with barely room to walk around the bed. Using the hair-dryer involved moving everything from the desk to the floor and also trapping the other person in the minuscule bathroom (no need for a lock as your legs will wedge it shut when you're using it). There was no fan in the bathroom which made the mirror pretty well unusable. The bed was also pretty uncomfortable with a worn out mattress. We were also disappointed with the food - having booked and paid for a first night meal in "The Grill" we arrived to find it shut - a fact not mentioned on check in. The alternative was barely adequate with poor service and okay food but nothing special - we ate out on the other nights. The spa poor is fine but the "well equipped gym was obviously fitted by the same person who designed the bedroom. Too much equipment in too small a space makes it impossible to use safely and, for some equipment, at all - and I had it to myself!!
On a positive note, the location is stunning and the staff were keen but seemed to lack guidance. Well it was that dead patch between Xmas and New Year so perhaps all the management had gone on holiday? The room and hotel were clean and it could be okay for a three star but certainly not up to the standard of others in the Handpicked chain.

I am sorry that there were aspects of your stay that fell short of your expectations.
I am apologise that you felt the room was small, it would be great if you could contact me about which particular room you stayed in, as I am not aware of one as small as you have mentioned in your comments. The hotel is inspected by the AA on an annual basis and I am pleased to say that the bedrooms fulfil the requirement of 4 star bedrooms, but as I said perhaps we could discuss this further. All of our bathrooms have fans unless they have a window in, if so we feel this is sufficient ventilation.
We are currently in the process of replacing the hairdryers and moving away from the wired in type to one that can be used anywhere in the room.
We review the beds on a regular basis; this again is something that we are in the process of replacing, not because they are worn our but because it is in our schedule to do so.
Regarding which restaurant was open; although I am unaware of your actual booking we informed the guests that stayed with us when you were here that one of the restaurants were open, and we didn’t specify which. This should have been supported by the reservationist, if your booking was made on the telephone.
I was delighted that you liked the location; it is beautiful and voted as one of the top beaches in Britain, we are very fortunate to be in the best spot on the best beach.
We are very proud of L’Horizon and I am pleased to say that in aforementioned AA assessments we are rated as a high scoring 4 star hotel, I am really sorry that you have not enjoyed your visit , should wish to actually speak to someone regarding these issues please feel free to contact me at the hotel.
