“OK food but not great value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

The Hunter's hotel is certainly in a nice location and does haves a charming ambience. We did not stay here but ate in the restaurant. The food was OK rather than great and certainly nothing out of the ordinary. Given that the Hunter's is expensive, one would expect better for the money. One of us is vegetarian, and there was no reduction in price despite the lack of meat, so it's particularly bad value for vegetarians.

“A wonderful lunch in a charming setting”

We had the most beautiful lunch in Hunters - from beginning to end we were so well looked after and accommodated. We had a toddler with us and every effort was made to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing and excellent value and the service was prompt and friendly. I would highly recommend this wonderful place and the fabulous gardens are the perfect place to help walk off those calories!

“Wicklow's best”

The moment you walk into Hunter's you realise that you are somewhere unique and very special. The crisp white linen in the Dining Room, the bar with the photo of the first car in Ireland, the wonderful garden with the famous sign, the vegetable garden with it's scarecrow staright out of Beatrix Potter, and the peaceful setting. This historic inn, which was the half way stopping off point for horses travelling south from Dublin to Wexford and beyond is a glorious piece of history. Many guests are the grand or great grandchildren of their family who have been going here for generations.
The breakfast is cooked to order, perfectly presented, no frills , but wonderful taste.
A very special piece of Irish history to be enjoyed and savoured !

“A Happy Return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

I have just returned to the "North," and thought I should share my experience of this former coaching inn/hotel. The whole place exudes warmth from the staff to the cosy fires in the atmospheric lounge bar area.
I enjoyed two meals which were excellent in quality, served efficiently by friendly staff, and, in my opinion, good VFM.
Bedroom and en-suite bathroom were spotless, tastefully furnished, and well equipped. The garden is well worth a stroll, and full of an extraordinary variety of plants, trees, shrubs and vegetables. A real oasis away from life's more techy side.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with garden view.

“A Little Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

Just back home and I am compelled to tell the world about a little gem called Hunter's Hotel, Newrath Bridge. We were enthralled by the warmth of heart and generosity of spirit in a world where love is at a premium. Fresh orange (real), poached egg (real) and brown bread (real). Staff (real). And a comfy bed (real). An hotel that has put the 'H' back into hospitality. Some people should not, and others must not throw stones at this charming abode. It is a refuge for the weary and the sad in these chaotic times. Well done management and staff.
