Spent one night in Tinakilly. Having attended a wedding there in 2010 and stayed overnight I had an idea what to expect. Mostly enjoyed the experience but a few things spoilt it. Asked for a seaview room but was told none available even though the hotel did not seem to be terribly busy (there was a wedding on but it seemed quite a small one). I understand my red Ribbon Voucher did not cover a sea view but I would have paid the extra if it had been offered. Two glasses of Prosecco which were part of the deal were never mentioned and never offered until the lovely lady who checked us out offered it but at that stage it was too late as we were heading home. I booked dinner for 8.30 with my original booking. We arrived at the hotel earlier than we had expected (5.30) so I rang Reception to change it to 8.00 to be informed that this was not possible as the Restaurant was fully booked for that time. My husband happened to pass the Restaurant at 7.30 and asked for a menu and noticed that it was practically empty! This is the first time I was unable to change my restaurant booking by a mere 30 minutes in a hotel! When we arrived at 8.30 I think we may have been the last to arrive and there were plenty of free tables. I could not understand this at all! The food was lovely but service a bit slow as both at dinner and breakfast I felt the restaurant was understaffed. We did enjoy our stay but Tinakilly would not be top of my list for a return visit. It is unfortunate that a few little things that can easily be rectified can spoil the experience!
