Woodlands Country House B&B is only a few miles off the motorway and a more intimate accommodation choice than some of the big hotels in the area. The B&B is beautifully cared for and the gardens are gorgeous.
I booked into the B&B in September while my parents were over from Australia and I'm so very glad I did. It was mum and dad's last weekend in Ireland before heading home and it was such a treat to stay there. We were chancing our arm a bit squashing my family of 4 into one room and my parents in another, but Philomena was very accommodating and it all worked out fine.
We arrived on a blustery and showery afternoon to find a nice warm cuppa, brack and scones waiting for us in the cosy living room. We also used one of the B&B's suggestions to book the Corkscrew restaurant in Gorey for dinner and enjoyed a lovely evening in town that night.
After a good sleep that night we were presented with a smorgasbord of treats for breakfast. (Sorry that my little ones ate all the berries. The B&B is not far from a berry farm and Philomena definitely uses this to the advantage of her guests). But it was the little touches that I enjoyed, like the description on each breakfast item to explain what it contained, which was more helpful than you'd know as mum has a number of dietary constraints. There was also a printed menu which contained a number of suggestions on things to do in the area. You'll find there is more than enough to keep you entertained in this beautiful part of Ireland.
I thoroughly enoyed our brief stay at the Woodlands and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
If you book well in advance try for one of the larger rooms as shown on the website.
