“Warm hostess, peaceful night sleep, convenient location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

My husband and I stayed at Philmar House in September upon the recommendation of our Irish friend. Mary was a gracious host and fixed us a lovely pot of tea and cakes upon our arrival. Our room was spacious, clean, newly updated, and the bathroom was fully equipped with a lovely hot shower. Mary recommended that we go out to Rosses Point since it was such a lovely evening. And she was so right. Rosses Point is a wonderful beach, great place to walk, and watch the sunset. All only 5 minutes down the road from Philmar House. Our breakfast the next morning was delicious and more than we could enjoy (though we tried!). Mary gave us some recommendations for parking in Sligo and places to visit. We enjoyed all of her recommendations, especially the one to visit Mullaghmore on our way to Donegal. I heartily recommend Philmar House and look forward to visiting Mary again on our next trip to Sligo.

Room Tip: Ask for the end room because it has 2 windows and the light is lovely in the room.

“A lovely B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

The Information Centre in Sligo offered us Philmar House as our B&B accommodation. Mary was very welcoming and invited us in to view the room. It was perfect with our own ensuite, Tv and tea & coffee facilities. Breakfast in the morning was beautiful - enough to set us off for the day without having to think about eating all day! The house and garden are very well kept and the other guests were most interesting. Thank you for a lovely stay.

“Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2011

My family and I stayed here and it was perfect. It is close to Sligo Town which has beautiful restaurants and cafes, a cinema, numerous museums etc. It is close to Rosses Point which has a beautiful beach where you can sail/golf or simply go for lovely walks. There are so many attractions in this area and this B&B is in the heart of all of them. I would recommend it to anybody considering a trip to the land of hearts desire.

“Great location, excellent service and rooms, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

I stayed here with my brother as we were going to a wedding in the hotel nearby. The location was perfect, only a few minutes from the hotel. We stayed in a lovely new room, very clean and everything was brand new. Only a recent refurbishment. The breakfast the following morning was perfect, and plenty of it! The lady of the house was friendly and chatty and I could not say a bad word about the place. I would definitely recommend Philmar House to anybody.

“lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2011

I stayed at Philmar house in March this year for 2 nights with my husband. Mary and her family were most welcoming. The rooms were very clean and comfortable... reminded me of home. Situated in good location, close to Sligo town, Rosses Point and also Strandhill which is great for surfing etc! Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice. Good value for money. Would recommend a stay at this B&B and I'm sure we will stay there again in the future.
