“What a great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2007

Had a really fab stay last week at this hotel. From the staff to the food, I really could not fault it. We had a mid week stay at a very special rate of 80 euros including breakfast. It was great just to be able to chill out and we ate there the first night and went to a lovely chinese the 2nd night. The rooms were really big incomparsion to the small rooms that are in most hotels these days! Good Food+really friendly staff+comfy bed=happy customer who will return very soon.

“Not Great”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2007

Did not stay here, but had a meal last week and it was appalling. We should have complained there and then but we were just so hungry and disappointed with our meal we ate some and then left. My husband had seafood chowder and he has this in most places he did not feel good for the rest of the day. I had a wrap and it was smothered in Mayonaise... The toilets were run down....
I will not be going back here again I just wish there was a restauarant guide like Trip Advisors hotel guide as it really gives a great idea for food etc... We did not want a fancy meal all we wanted was a delicious lunch....
We had a fab holiday in East and South East of Ireland the only downside was the meal in Ashbourne Court Hotel...
We ate from Galway to Wexford to Wicklow to Naas to Dublin to Portlaoise and Tullamore in the last 10 days and Ashbourne Court Hotel was the only place we had an unpleasent experience and unprofessional staff.......

“Very noisy and nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2004

The rooms are reasonably comfortable but only if you stay at the back of the hotel. There is a very busy main road only 20 feet from the hotel frontage and the noise of traffic pounding along carries on 24 hours a day. In the summer this is made worse because you will want to open windows for ventilation. Frankly this noise is almost intollerable and I made sure that I had my room changes as soon as I realised the problem. When booking insist on a room at the back overlooking the car park. Also the rooms at the front are incredibly small whereas the rear ones are quite adequate. There is no mini-bar in the room but tea making facilities are provided and a trouser press. Also there is a night club in the basement level. This is not a problem Monday to Thursday but at the weekend you can forget sleeping unless you are located on the top floor and well away from the wandering drunks who sometimes frequent the hallways. There is an underused restaurant in the hotel but the food is overpriced and mundane. Much better to eat snack type meals in the hotel bar or go out of the hotel, walk around the corner and get a very acceptable meal at the Italian restaurant.
Also there are some typical Irish pubs locally and the food isn't bad in these either. A short walk through the town takes you to a nice Chinese restaurant too. Breakfasts in the hotel are good. There are two bar lounges, both comfortable.
