Booked into this hotel for an overnight stay with family to attend at gaa match that was in the town at the time. We booked in to the hotel as we found very good deals and offers so we were looking forward to the stay as we had to travel four hours to get there so it was ideal to stay instead of travelling home late that night... BUT on arrival, was immediately told that both our rooms were cancelled the day before. Thought it was a joke at first but then the manager arrived saying that we had cancelled the day before and was adamant about it. As we said to them why would we travel four hours up to the hotel that was cancelled, they said all their rooms were booked, including our "cancelled room" and the best they could do was to see if they could book us into another hotel at our own expense. At this stage we were very distraught and made the decision to drive the four hours home after the match. All in all we were left so disappointed and totally embarrassed for something that was not our fault.

plus there staff could not do anough for us , food lovely and plentiful, pool was spotless
with lovely big towels, Rooms spotless clean fresh towels every day all in all we were
well looked after from sunday to wed,. are every needs were catered for. the hotel is
in the heart of the town & the railway station only a short walk away.

Although our room was spacious, we were very disappointed by the décor of it; bed linen very shabby, curtains old, room needed painted, bathroom grubby. Our first impressions of the main foyer, coffee area and corridors was that they were untidy and the hotel seemed understaffed. We did enjoy the gym and pool although the changing area was not well kept e.g. lots of dirty towels lying on the floor. We had a nice meal in the grill bar attached to the hotel.The staff were friendly throughout. Overall we definitely expected better accommodation in a four star hotel.

Just had a family reunion to celebrate a 70th birthday. Our party was 18 in total 9 adults and 10 children ranging from teens to toddlers. Booking completed over the phone and everything matched for all families on check in. Great flexibility shown to large families.Rooms were fine,beds were comfortable. Some people will moan if beds do not replicate the Sealy memory foam at home. Staff friendly and willing. Breakfast good, although the later you leave it the busier and less organised it is. Evening meal booked in Kelly'S was lovely. Nice area allocated to us. Food was nice especially the steaks. Service for children was a bit slow which meant they were eating after the adults. Potentially troublesome but it worked as most children slightly older. Cake cut and presented and we all paid our portion of the bills individually with no fuss. When we retired back to hotel all seating full. When I suggested the Coffee Deck they were more than happy to open up the seating area and put on the lights. Fantastic as our evening was maintained and we had space for convivialty, photos etc. Only downside with location was the level of noise from people outside especially girls screaming and some loud local music. It dragged on till 0330hrs. Being forewarned by reception may have tempered my annoyance and a slight reduction in the room rate for those in the front of the hotel. Leisure facilities a great hit. Parking worked fine. Hotel very busy today with a large GAA group, hotel missed a trick as bar was closed and a lot of people were pulling on the door handles to no avail. Mother in law had a great weekend so everybody happy.
