We arrived at the hotel in question and tried to check in. The reception desk was deserted. I had to go to the bar to find someone who could check us in.

I had been told by email that our price included B&B and one main meal in the bar. There was great confusion as to what they thought we had booked and after a number of phonecalls it was agreed that we were indeed not liars!

We had our meal and the price of the mains were deducted. Then at checkout we were confronted and told that we would have to pay for the mains after all! Customer service has apparently not reached this hotel!

Since the rooms are VERY average as well, I strongly recommend that anyone considering staying here steers well clear!

We stayed at the Merriman and overall found the hotel to be well run with the rooms comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly & helpful and we found little to complain about. The hotel is in the centre of Kinvarra close to a number of pubs & restaurants. The hotel offers good value and the breakfast while slighty limited in choice will set you up for the day. The Irish themed bar has a good bar food selection and serves some fine guiness.
The hotel is a small estalishment, but overall it offers value and comfort which can sometimes be lacking in the larger establishments. Enjoy.

I stayed one night in August 2009. The room was clean and adequate, but otherwise nothing special. The staff at the front desk was very helpful as I was working on an automobile issue. The parking lot is somewhat small. The restaurant/bar was busy. I ate there and classified my plate as average.

The Merriman Hotel in Kinvara is a good hotel but could be better. This hotel is the only near full service hotel in this small, but friendly and beautiful coastal town outside of Galway, and the lack of competition at times shows. The concierge was understanding and catered to our needs. The rooms were ok, and the service was so so. Wi-fi was helpful, but is not in the rooms, only the lobby. Often times this hotel had a strange mix of at times trying to please, and at other times ignoring your needs, like forgetting wake-up calls. I recommend it, but not strongly
