“Best place we stayed on our honeymoon! Definitely coming back”

I don't know that we can say much more than what's already been said. The owner, Mary, was wonderful and really took care of us. She made us a delicious breakfast every morning, gave us lots of ideas and tips on where to go/what to see, and overall really took care of us. The home was clean & bright, very cozy and quiet. We were originally only supposed to stay one night but decided within an hour of arriving that we'd make it two! Great base location for exploring The Burren, Galway & the Aran Islands, Cliffs of Moher, and the northern Clare Coast. 15 minute drive from Kinvara - a great seaside city (excellent food at Keogh's in town, plus great trad & folk music in the evenings!). We will definitely be coming back here! Perfect for couples and honeymooners.

Room Tip: Book the triple ensuite if you can!

“Fabulous hostess and wonderful atmosphere....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2010

We would recommend this B&B to anyone on the west coast of Ireland. Mary is a fantastic host, welcomed us with open arms. Its a cute 3 room place, we were the only ones there, and she welcomed us with hot tea and cookies and a fire in the sitting area. She sat and chatted away about an hour with us and gave us great tips on the area, churches, and the best drives to get out to the cliffs of Moher. The breakfast she made was fantastic. Its located on a farm, super quiet and night and very cozy. The directions we had were weak, so if you choose this place make sure to contact Mary directly for better directions. Quickly: if driving south from Galway, once in Kinvara the road splits after Sexton's pub, make a left and then keep to the left again at the Y in the road. About 3 miles down there is a 4-way intersection (and there will be a sign for Woodlands B&B), turn right, and another few miles down the way you will see another sign leading you into the long driveway. It is actually located between Kinvara and Gort. If you think you have missed it, trust me, you just haven't gone far enough.

“100% RECOMMENDED”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2009

I would recommend this B&B to everybody who is looking for a nice and quiet place to stay. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and Mary is a very friendly hostess who prepares delicious breakfasts. For breakfast you can expect whatherver you like from simple cerelas with milk to full irish breakfast. Everything served in an elegant way.
The B&B is about 10 min drive from Kinvara so it is good to ask Mary for directions, however we were going there after dusk and we found the house without problems following Mary's tips.
In a nutshell - 100% recommended.

“Warmest of Irish welcomes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2008

At the border of the gorgeously scenic Burren, near the Atlantic coat, and only 40 minutes to Shannon, this farmhouse B&B is our favorite when coming or going from Shannon. Mary Spelman is the very definition of Irish hospitality, making tea at the drop of a hat and helping with information about the locality if needed (once, arranging an early-morning car tyre repair when we woke to difficulties and an early flight!). Just down the lane is the ancient Garryland/Coole woodlands, where we appreciate walking the well established pathways. Its location, a bit off-the-beaten track, is actually one of the appealing aspects of Woodlands. It is quiet and lovely and homey.
