“The most terrible hotel we ever stayed in !”

This is a very low standard hotel. It is not my habit but I felt that I had to keep some note as there were so many negative points in such a short stay (it was only for one night but we've been so glad to leave early in the morning!)
We first didn't get the room we booked (1 bed instead of 2). The receptionist ran to all the rooms until he found one (haven't they any plan of their own hotel ?). We got to our room trough a long corridor in complete darkness.
The room was cold and heating was not functional. The manager brought us an old electric radiator but we didn't dare leaving it on, as the castors were broken and the heating part were in direct contact with the carpet! It was the coldest night we spent in a hotel.
The floor was dirty everywhere, even outside where the grass looked like a junk site. They were suspect stains and holes on bed sheets. The shower was out of service, the soap dispenser empty and no bags in the bins. TV had no remote. The restaurant room was as cold as the bedroom.
Some positive points however: the bathroom is equipped for disabled and there is an access ramp. The breakfast is ok and the staff willing to help. I feel sorry for them to work in such a deteriorated place!

  • Liked — The location, Clarinbridge is conveniently located just before Galway and outside the traffic madness.
  • Disliked — Cold, deterioated and dirty !

“Avoid if possible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2007

I stayed at this hotel with my husband in September and was very disappointed.
The room was very basic with a double and 2 twin beds , the bathroom was of much lower quality than a lot of youth hostels I have stayed in and had no soap , shampoo ect which would be the least I would expect for a €130 a night hotel. To top it all off we were woken at 8am by a man mowing the lawn outside our window …

The staff were friendly and nice but I would strongly urge other travellers to check local BnB’s in the area before parting with €130 to stay in the Clarinbridge Court…

“Stay here only if you have to”

My boyfriend and I stayed here on 22 June for a wedding in the area. There seemed to be a shortage of accommodation in this region so we went for the Clarinbridge, which to me, did not look great on the web site and this was further verified upon our arrival. The hotel is a new build and looks OK from the outside. It is in a woody area, but totally surrounded by a MASSIVE car park. Not nice on the eye when you look out of the window. Such a shame, they could have done better with the lovely land. We were given our room on ground level, which I did not like. It was dark and I was slightly nervous of being on ground level with an open window. The staff, which I cannot fault at all, offered us another room on a higher floor. This room was much better with more light. It was clean although I find the décor rather atrocious with red carpets and just generally unpleasing, but I have to admit it was clean and adequate. I wouldn't be complaining if the prices were adequate as well, but I was left hurting after paying about £100 a night for staying a middle of nowhere in a very unremarkable place.
After checking in, my boyfriend and I took a drive to Galway town. On the way there, we saw that there were various bed and breakfasts with vacancies. We were quite tempted to enquire, but we were only there for the weekend so it didn't seem worthwhile. I had searched the net extensively for B&Bs in this area prior to our visit with no luck. I guess they are just not that well publicised!

“One of the worst hotel i have stayed in.”

We stayed in this hotel for one night on the Bank Holiday weekend in October. The outside of the hotel looks lovely and so does the reception area but the rooms are a very different story.

There was hard white stains on the duvet cover of the bed and some hairs were found on the inside sheet.

The bathroom tiles were dirty and the toilet and sink really needs to be replaced in the new. The kettle and cups were also dirty and there was stains on the carpet.

We had a meal in the restaurant that night and there was only one other couple having a meal at this time. The food was just ok and when we ordered wine we were told that there was no wine list so we had to take the one bottle of wine that the waitress offered us. There was only one waitress serving and i have to say she was very nice and helpful. While we were having our meal an unusual looking spider crawled down the wall to the ledge beside our table where there was already another dead spider.

This hotel has to be one of the worst hotels that I have stayed in so i would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Lovely Surprise!”

This 3 star hotel turned out to be one of greatest hotels of my July trip!

The hotel is located a 10 minute drive from Galway center, in a woody and beautiful location.
Service is amazing, and staff was doing everything to help us (we wanted to visit the Aran Islands).
The room was very clean, big and comfortable.
Paddy Burke's restaurant in Clarinbridge is one of the best in Ireland - no need in extra words.

Amazind and very cheap hotel, top class!
