What can I say! From beginning to end of our stay was horrible. As soon as we got off the boat at the pier, there was "taxi men" like vultures trying to give us a lift to the hotel. They wouldnt take no for an answer. We felt we had to accept and were shocked when we landed at the hotel after a 60 sec drive and a 10euro charge!! the cheek. The hotel was filthy, freezing and seriously outdated. The room was cold, beds tiny and a funky smell off the bed clothes (my sister slept on my hair on the pillow cause she thought she would get sick with the smell). We had to get drunk to even get to sleep. There was a lovely pub though called neds or something. The staff were lovely and it was clean and welcoming. As for the young males drinking in the pub, absolute animals as id call them. They were insulting, acted like they never saw women before and were kinda pervy. Word of warning, If you arent a fluent Irish speaker (I was but didnt let on) they love to talk about you and insult you in Irish to your face!!! No manners at all but im sure there are decent young men on the island, we just didnt meet them. Id recommend a lovely b+b just up the road from the hotel, think it was called thige rory or something. We ate there the whole time and its very clean and the staff are lovely people. If I go back ill defo stay there. The island is lovely to look at but we didnt savour it as we had such a bad experience with accomodation
