By now Bewley's have a well established track record of delivering what a certain traveller wants - clean rooms, basic in-room amenities, cooked breakfast buffet, bars, decent locations and well connected hotels. This could well sum up their Leopardstown hotel. Two rooms bed and breakfast for one night cost just over £100 and was value for money. Is Bewleys in the city centre? No. However, it is well connected to the heart of the Dublin via the LUAS tramline located about 200 years from the hotel. The LUAS will also deliver you to the nearby Dundrum Shopping Centre. In addition an advertising feature for a local taxi firm in the lobby offers a taxi for up to four people into the city centre for 20 euro max and 40 Euro max to the airport via the direct M50. The Airport Bus stops right at the front door as well, so you will never be short of ways to get to the airport.
Does it offer fine dining? No. But it does offer a reasonable restaurant serving the standards that will satisfy your appetite as well as a few decent bottles of wine. If you opt for breakfast you will have a choice of fruits, breads, cereals, cooked items of the 'full Irish' nature, tea and coffee (disappointingly though for such a historic coffee family it was very average indeed). Parking is available at 8 Euro per day. During busy events the underground car park can become full so just bear that in mind. The hotel also has a small gym for those who want to stay in shape.
Offering value for money accommodation you should expect that the hotel will be busy and well used. This can mean that revellers who have had a few drinks in the bar can make a racket as they wend their way to bed [as they did during our stay], but you get idiots no matter where you stay. Your room will also show signs of being well used. Ours did, but it was spotlessly clean and large. There was also an in-room safe for your valuables. The check-in staff where friendly and knowledgeable.
All in all I would say that Bewleys is somewhere you stay on a reasonable budget whilst in that area of the city attending something else. It is not a destination hotel, but then again I guess it does not claim to be. If you get it at the right price and you want a clean, basic hotel, then judging by what we experienced this is for you. As with so much, do your homework and set your standards at the right level.
