Tinode House is a classic Irish home hotel, providing wonderful accommodations, a helpful and charming host, and superb full Irish breakfasts. This being our first visit to Ireland, it was most enjoyable to receive such a warm, hearty welcome to the country in the person of P.J. Dunne, the affable owner/innkeeper. Mr. Dunne was full of helpful advice on how to make the most of our stay in Dublin, and always available to answer our questions. He seems to do everything, including cleaning the rooms and cooking the breakfast. The man is a wonder. And he is a marvelous cook as well, judging by five wonderful breakfasts!
I would have rated Tinode with five stars for "excellent" but for several nagging complaints concerning the bathroom.
First, in our en suite, the bathroom fan operated by motion senser, meaning that every time one so much as opened the door to the bath room the loud fan started up again, continuing for minutes after leaving the bathroom. This of course also happened when one had to make a trip to the "john" in the middle of the night. Not helpful at a time when rest and quiet was most desired.
Second, there was no shampoo provided of any kind. In my extensive travel experience, I can't remember a single B&B or inn anywhere else not providing some shampoo, either in a small container, or by dispenser in the shower.
Third, although there was a sign in the bathroom warning clients not to use the towels to remove their makeup, there was no tissue provided (other than toilet tissue). A minor inconvenience, to be sure, but still . . . if the sign is on the wall, why not provide something in lieu of towels to remove make up?
Finally, although we stayed for five nights, during the entire time we had only one small bar of soap provided for both sink and shower, with which we had to make do for the full five days.
Other than these bathroom inconveniences, this was a wonderful place to stay.
