“A visit to this hotel is a must!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

My partner and I stayed in this hotel for one night in April this year. We booked a room in the coach house. It was a big room with a massive bathroom. Very clean. The main house is full of charm. Very cosy with a big open fire. This is a perfect place to stay if you want to get away and relax. We arrived on the Saturday afternoon. The owner was an absolute gentleman and made us feel very welcome. We had soup and salad in the bar. I have never tasted chicken soup like it. I would return to this hotel for the soup alone! We had wheaten bread with the soup and asked for extra helpings twice. Everything was home made by the owner. He had a lovely selection of beers too. Breakfast was lovely. If you enjoy good food and relaxing by a big open fire a visit to this hotel is a must. We will definately return to this little hidden gem soon.

“perfect romantic break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

We chose Coxtown Manor for the first few days of our honeymoon and were not dissappointed! the setting is beautiful, the hotel is decorated to a very high standard. Our room was very comfortable, with a more than spacious bed and bathroom. Breakfast was served in a beautifully restored room in the main house and was excellent. The belgium fry was delicious as was the fresh wheaten loaf! We also ate in the bar on one evening was were surprised at the size and quality of our crab on toast! Located close to Donegal town and lots of nearby beaches and scenic walks, all the staff were lovely and there was a very well stocked bar too.

“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

We booked this guest house as a last minute getaway online so were slightly intrepid before arriving as to what we would find, however we could not have chosen a better place for a relaxing weekend. We stayed in a large room with en suite bathroom in the main house which was very comfortable and had all the amenities anyone could need.

The house, courtyard and grounds are truly beautiful and Eduard and his staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating, nothing we asked was too much trouble for them.

We had breakfast which was superb (with good coffee!) and on Sunday evening ate from the bar snack menu, the food was perfect.

We would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing break and we hope to return again before the end of the year.

“Superb Guesthouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2010

Stayed here for 2 nights. It's a very lovely old manor house with rolling grounds surrounding it. We found our bedroom in the house (1) very comfortable. It was large, very airy and we thought overall the place had a careworn feel that was spot on ( the TV remote was a bit too "careworn" for my liking but we only had RTE 1 and 2 and CNN and I wasn't coming to watch TV anyway). Anyway, careworn it was - there were little dents in panels, rings on coasters but it was all spotlessly clean and the owner was a real gent. The bathroom was also large and was finished to a high standard. Breakfast was very nice too - there is a even a small bar. If you are looking for something trendy or ultra-modern look elsewhere but, I think, for cozy, warm service and surroundings this is perfect.

“Romantic charm with friendly efficient service, excellent food and stunning rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2010

We arrived at Coxtown Manor for a two night break. As soon as we stepped into the hall we were struck by the romantic charm of the interior.First, the breakfast room to the right with its high ceilings, period furnishings and exquisitly decorated cornicing. Then, through the cosy bar to the left to the warm crackle of a turf and log fire in the breathtaking sitting room, groomed and decorated to perfection. We would spend many hours here beside the fire sipping wine after our meal.
We were welcomed by Eduard ,the proprietor and our host for the stay.He chose our key from the long orderly line set efficiently along reception (no form to fill in covered with small print thrust in front of the weary traveller to sign here!) and showed us to our beautiful room with views over rolling countryside.
For the next two mornings we were greeted by Eduard and treated to his speciality - the Belgian Fry ,accompanied by freshly squeezed orange juice and other delicious treats. In the evenings we had a choice of homemade food ,all emphasising the uniqueness of the experience.
Coxtown Manor is something special, which in this day and age of uniformity and catalogue chosen hotel furnishings is a reminder of what travel and relaxation is all about.
