“Average sums it up!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

We spent only about 7 hours here but it was ok! I was impressed with the front desk clerk! Very kind & helpful! The room we had was nice-it was a handicapped king smoking but it didn't smell like a smoking room! The bathroom was VERY nice & LARGE-I think it was because it was a handicapped room! The bedspread did need replacing-a few burn holes in it; and I think their towels needs replacing or possibly starting leaving 3 or 4 towels in a king room even though it was just 2 of us! Very thin towels! It was a busy weekend for them-UT game I believe so it was kinda noisy when the fans got out of the game and back to the motel! I have stayed in better places but all in all it was ok-cost was good but then again you get what you pay for!!!

Room Tip: I love to have a big bathroom-the handicapped bathroom was perfect! Very spacious and nice for a co...

“Bed bugs, cockroaches, & cigarette burns- DISGUSTING!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011 via mobile

We arrived to our room To find a dead cockroach & spider in our bathroom, cigarette ashes in our nonsmoking rooms toilet, our bedspread covered in cigarette burns & stains, & the worst.... Bedbug fecal matter on the matress. The room was absolutely disgusting. It was 2:00am & we were traveling with an infant so you know it was bad when we requested another room & moved all our stuff. The only positive thing I can say is the guy at the desk was very nice, although he did not answer me when pressed on whether he was aware of a bedbug problem. The "jacuzzi suite" we were moved to was equally disgusting minus the dead bug & the matress was newer & cleaner. This place is not deserving of one star let alone two & I hate priceline for giving me this hotel. I'll never use priceline again- they need to screen the hotels they use a little better. I have to wonder what alternate universe the ppl who rate this dump as "excellent" are living in!!!!! Sad for them if they think this is acceptable. You'd be better off sleeping in your car. OH and we got to listen to our neighbors go at it the next morning at 7am. Lol, to sum it up, YUCK!!!! You've been warned!

“Nice place to stop”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

Every year on our way home from Memphis, TN, we stop over at the Super 8, Strawberry Plains exit 398. There are plenty of places to find food and get gas at this exit. The motel is located up a steep driveway and it overlooks the area. Check in is effiicient and we were on the ground floor. It seemed like they needed a lot of information such as a copy of your drivers licence, tag number, make and model of your car, etc. There was a good internet connection from our room. Our room last year was on the end of the building and you could not access the internet well from inside the room. There are over 100 cable tv channels. The bathroom is the kind with the toilet and tub separate from the sink area. The room was very quiet. In the morning there is a complimentary breakfast with the usual items, donuts, cereal, waffles. The donuts were stale and so we stopped at McDonalds for a sandwich later. The motel is easy on and off the highway. We've stayed at this Super 8 for the past 7 or 8 years and find it comfortable and convenient and would recommend it.

“Not our favorite in the area. Needs a lot of work”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

We booked a room here using Wyndham rewards points. It was close to the places we wanted to go, and we knew about where it was. We had looked around the outside on previous jaunts up to the area, and it seemed like the best choice for redeeming our points.

Check-in went fairly smoothly, the desk person was very nice, although, despite having a 2:00 PM check in time posted, she was not sure they had a room ready. She checked, and they did, so we checked in. We went to the room, and found it to be nice, albeit very worn, and suffused with the odor of room de-odorizer. It was so thick, you could feel it on the roof of your mouth. The room was not bad, a microwave and fridge are provided, and the bathroom, although not very clean, was adequate. The towels were at one time white, but now were stained and an indeterminate color.

We changed into swimsuits, and went down for a dip, the pool was refreshing, but due to the recent hot weather, it was more like a very warm bath. The pool is much smaller then one would think from the pictures posted on the website, I am guessing it is 18' X 30' , if that. Overall, the pool was definitely worth it, despite the temps!

We did a bed inspection, and found he sheets to be clean, etc, but the box spring was exposed as the comforter was drawn back- no cover sheet on it, or larger deep pocket sheet put over both mattresses. The bed support appeared to have been made out of rough cut wood, kind of a rustic look for a motel.

The upholstered chair and ottoman in the room had numerous stains on them, and neither of us would sit in it.

In the bathroom, the granite shower walls had been installed without benefit of caulking at the bottom, and water had wicked up, mildewed, and was working it's way THROUGH the granite (which is porous). Eventually, the granite will be ruined and have to be removed. Folks with an aversion to, or sensitive to molds and mildews had best avoid this place entirely.

On our way back from the "continental breakfast" ( I don't know what continent it was trying to represent- it was not North America), our keys both would not work, and i had to trudge down to the front desk to get them re-formatted.While this is no big thing, it is representative of how the whole place feels. The breakfast itself was pretty disappointing- all empty carbs, and no proteins. Not much in the way of fresh stuff, mainly stale cereals, and a few bagels, and donuts. The waffle machine DID work well, although those of us who can't have milk had few choices. Coffee was more like dark brown water...I don't know who made it, but they were awful stingy with the coffee!

All in all? not a property we'll likely visit again, unless there is nothing else close.

“No keys, coffee or cleanliness.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2011

I chose to stay at this motel after reading the other reviews. It seemed like it would be ok, and cheap for a night to break up a long drive. As I am checking in, I request a portable crib. The man at the desk says they were all stolen, but he would check if they have anymore. I asked for my key and he informed me that I can't have one because the key doesn't work. I ask for a different room, but he says they are all booked. He tells me I am in room 218, so I go and wait for him to let me, my husband, and our 3 small children into our room. We waited for 10 minutes in the rain and wind from the highway. He never comes. I finally go back to the front desk, and he is there. He says he told me room 118. "Door's open" is all the man says at the door. When we finally get into our room, it is a decent sized room, but it obviously is used as storage. There was an extra tv, and also an ottoman of sorts with cigarette burns all over it. The air unit blew a musty odor into the room. There were spiders in the tub. You had to flush 3 times for the toilet to work. It took over 4 minutes for the shower to get hot, both for me, and for my husband who showered 10 minutes later. The drain was Super(8) slow, so you got to take a cold bath and a hot shower at the same time. The bed was ok. I probably would have slept well, but I had a baby in bed with me because there weren't any cribs. I went to make coffee in the morning, but there was only decaf. We had to make sure we packed everything up before leaving for breakfast because once we all left the room, we had no way of going back in. I check-out and the lady makes it seem like no big deal that I didn't enjoy my stay. So we head to breakfast. The food was depleted. They had plain Cheerios and plain cornflakes, a few donuts, juice and coffee. Also make it yourself waffles(this was the best part of the stay.). Every time the lady would walk by to refill something, she would make a little smirky "humf". All in all, this was the worst experience I have ever had anywhere.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.
