“Unique experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

My husband and I usually travel the trace in the springtime but this time we stayed in the fall. We heard about Ridgetop through a store in town. We stayed in the 1800s cabin and had an amazing time. Karen and her family were so gracious, we started feeling bad about our requests. You are totaly secluded and we felt like we were the only ones for miles. Breakfast was great and we slept like babies all weekend. I will say that it is hard to find in the dark but once you get there, you do not want to leave. Also, there is not much phone service up there but that made it even more relaxing. One thing I would like to recommend is that they make the waterfalls accessible so guests can tour the grounds. We loved it and highly recommend it.

“A Hidden Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2010

My husband and I stayed in the 1830's Cabin. We cycled down the trace from nashville. Karen Odom drove her Ford Escape with a bike rack on the back to the camp ground at the bottom of the hill. We were so thankful to have a car waiting for us. We were able to go into town and get a meal. The grounds and woods are beautiful! We were treated as though we were family. We will definately tell our friends about our new family at Ridgetop!

The place had just changed hands when we got there. The previous owners left no information concerning reservations for any guests that were on their way. We were not allowed into the main house area the first night, and we were not given any explanation about why. However, the people who were staying in that building were allowed in the main room. We stayed in the log cabin which was charming and quaint. The breakfast was okay, nothing special, though. The rates are high for what you get at this place, and it is out of the way and hard to find. The trails through the woods were hard to maneuver, but we did see some turkeys. I had a good time because my husband and I enjoy going places together, but we were a bit less than impressed with the grounds and the service. The storage, drawers, etc in the cabin were filled with cleaning products, and used soaps and used candles, dirty cleaning cloths. There was no storage at all for our clothing, etc. I hope the new owners concentrate more on the grounds, and are more organized in the near future, although I think we will stay somewhere else next trip to the Amber Falls Winery. I do not regret staying at Ridge Top. We have traveled enough to expect more, though.

I was very surprised to read this review. Even though we did only have the B&B for two days, the guests were all very happy and understanding of the transistion. I appolagized for the miscommunication about the main house and everyone was able to utilize it after the first night. I remember the guests commenting on how much they loved the plants and the grounds. I asked each guest if we could improve on anything from the old owners and everyone said things were great. The three things some of the guests would have liked were, Direct TV, wireless internet and a land line. All of the guests raved about the breakfasts that were served. Even though we have not received your payment for the time you did spend with us, we would love to have you back again and show how we have updated things.

Ridgetop is located on top of a ridge in Hampshire TN, we are surrounded by 170 acres of woods. Even though we are in the country we do have two small towns located 15 miles away for dining and entertainment. We have two beautiful wineries located close to us, one is not even a mile away and the other is about 4 miles down the road. We are three miles away from the beautiful Natchez Trace parkway with historic markers all along the way. There is horse back riding, canoeing, camping, and the elephant sanctuary all withing minutes from us.

“Beautiful except for ticks and no telecommunication very nice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2010

We enjoyed our venture up on the ridge with new owner Karen Odon making our stay as pleasant as possible. VERY PRETTY AND CALM. We have Sprint phone and Verizon wireless, no reception, No T.V.'s in rooms. Small Chalet was a tad dirty with no refrigerator as stated in Advertising - you have to walk to main house at night if you want a beverage. Guest Room was very pleasant. BEWARE OF TICKS, SOME CAME HOME WITH US. THESE ARE DEER TICKS - THE ONES THAT CARRY LIME DISEASE. I are looking forward to returning.

I have to appologize for the transistion from the old owners to us. We were in the midst of a transistion when our first guests arrived two days into the ownership. I did not close down the B&B during this transistion due to the reservations from the old owners. This year, in TN, has been a bad year for ticks, because of the wet weather. I explained this to all of the guests and supplied tick repellent for everyone. Unfortunately the refrigerator in the cottage had gone out the day before you had to transistion from the guest room to the cottage. Each guest had the keys to the main house and the availablility to use the refrigerator at any time. Because of the problem with cell phones in the thick woods, we were able to get a land line available for emergencies within two days. During the first week of operation we were able to get telephone, direct tv and wireless service in the main house. The majority of our guests are very thankful we do not have tv in the rooms. Ridgetop is a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. We are located in 170 acres of beautiful scenery.
