“Corporate had already booked and I was expecting the worst”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

When the email came down that I would be staying here, I immediately went to TA to check out the reviews and I was scared when reading all the negatives. I was expecting the worst but I was pleasantly surprised. Granted, they are in the midst of renovation it seemed, but my stay was not bad at all. Room 223 seemed to have been updated recently because the carpets, shower, sink, walls, tables all looked fairly new. The room was clean & had no strange smells. The king bed seemed new too, albiet too hard for me but I'm accustomed to memory foam so...
Very convenient to the interstate and surrounded by a plethora of gas stations, eateries & grocers. Not being a city dweller, I thought traffic noise would be a problem but inside the room it was quiet. Housekeeping was very friendly, nice and accomodating. There was a fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, iron, ironing board all in working condition. Desk lamp even had a built-in outlet on it's base, great for all those mobile devices. WiFi was good. Good breakfast in the morning, even buscuits & gravy! Good coffee too.
If I had any complaints at all, they'd be...
1. Shower pressure to low
2. One lamp had bulb out
3. Guests(no doubt) had littered yard area & walkways with cigarette butts
Hey, it's not the Ritz Carlton but I'm pretty picky and this was FINE with me. Looks like they are on the right track.

Room Tip: Room 223 is a King facing the pool

“Don't do it, you CAN find better....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

The only good thing about this hotel is it is within walking distance of a Kmart where you can catch a bus direct into the city. A pervading damp musty smell of carpet that needs cleaning badly greeted us on entering our room. They have the standard headboard and mirror to make the room look Best Western standard, but it fails on everything else. The fridge was so noisy we switched it off. The microwave was dirty from previous guests. The pillows smelt sweaty. It was clean but stained grouting and a general shabbiness made it looked uncared for. Instead of personal bottles of shampoo etc they have old fashioned soap and shape dispensers in the bathroom making it look very public toilet in style!no fluff left in the old towels....a sad place.
We had neighbors sitting outside their room drinking until late loudly, followed the next morning by a workman shouting at his mate, and we were on the quieter side away from traffic. Our AC unit was broken and would only stay on full blast which sounded like a hurricane going through the room, or off, which meant night sweats.
The breakfast was the usual fodder. No fruit on offer for the more health conscious and the fruit juice definitely wasn't fruit juice as we'd recognize it.
It's a 15-20 min drive into town to hit Music Row - which you have to do - but trying to get in/out from downtown at rush hour is horrendous.
Oh, and as for high speed wifi - forget it. When we complained as it just didn't stay logged on and was hellishly slow, nothing changed. Eventually after a day we were told they had recently changed service provider - really? isn't telling your provider your needs one of the basics before signing up with them?

Room Tip: Find somewhere else

“Best Western Fairwinds Is Worth The Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

We stayed at the Best Western Fairwinds August 18 thru 22, 2011. The hotel staff was pleasant and knowledgable of the area. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable and the WiFi was fast. The breakfast was similar to those offered in more expensive chains. The pool was very clean, well maintained and warm. We needed a nice, clean, comfortable place to rest during a activity filled, long weekend and the Fairwinds provided just that. Do not hesitate to book your next Nashville trip at the Fairwinds, just minutes from Downtown Nashville.

“Never Again... Never another Best Western...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

I arrived to find out that "I" had made a mistake when I booked the room and so I was expected to stay in a smoking room with a 5 month old baby. After threatening to go to another hotel, the cleaning staff cleaned a non smoking room for me (at midnight), and thank goodness they did. However it did take almost 45 minutes that my family (5 month old) had to sit and wait while it was being cleaned. There was never a "sorry", it was MY fault. ( i stay 35 nights a year in a hotel and have NEVER had this problem.

Another family was with me and I was charged $50 more than them, even though he had NO discounts and reservations was made on the phone, the 800 number, in the same hour or so. Of course when I brought that to their attention there was nothing they could do ( or cared to do).

I paid for my two nights in cash rather than leaving it on my Debit card because I was told that if I paid cash they would not even authorize my debit card for the stay. I paid cash and when I checked out the charge for the full amount was put on my card... when I asked the same lady in the lobby I was told that "I must not have told them I would be paying cash".

The hotel was full of Truckers and I felt that because of the business that they were doing with different corporate companies, they didn't need my dollar. I say that because everything was my fault and I was never told sorry for the mistake or the inconvenience.

The billing problem was a Best Western problem... For that reason I will never stay again.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else. There is a quality inn next door. Rooms are about the same price

“Comfort and great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

This is no fancy hotel, but a clean, friendly place to stay. We stayed one night on our way south and one night on our way back home. Both rooms we stayed in were clean. All staff interactions were pleasant, and we had a great hot breakfast. All at a very low rate!
