“Lovely weekend away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

My husband and I live in the Nashville area but wanted to plan a weekend away from home without a lot of travel (and to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary). With only a 25 minute drive it was like we landed in another world! We booked 2 nights at the Inn and spent most of our time relaxing on the front porch taking in the views of horse farm...not to mention lots of turkeys and even a little bunny that we saw out in the yard. If you want to get out to dinner or to do other things another great thing about the location is that it's best of both worlds- a quiet & peaceful location yet you're still really close to a lot of restaurants and things to do in Franklin & Cool Springs. The breakfasts each morning were delicious- Dwight is a great cook! One morning we enjoyed blueberry pancakes with fresh bananas on top with crispy bacon on the side. The next morning we had fresh baked bread, cantaloupe, sausages, a cheese omelet and I don't even remember what else except that it was a great spread! Thanks to the owners Dwight & Stacey for providing a relaxing getaway! We'll be back!

“Wedding great. - owners not!”

I was recently a wedding held at this venue. The venue is beautiful. Unfortunately the owners didn't live up to the venue. The lady "directing" the wedding was unorganized. The "gentleman" was discourteous, unprofessional, and borderline verbally abusive. Two examples. First, after one of his horse owner tenants verbally abused one of our decorators the "gentleman" dismissed our decorators concern and later stated that justified his actions by stating that the horse owner paid him monthly. Second. He walked into our reception, fixed a plate of our food, and then walked back into his living room to watch tv, which was open to our setting.

The wedding went great. Unfortunately the people running the venue were not. I DO Not recommend this venue under the present ownership.

“PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT have your wedding here!!”

The location is BEAUTIFUL but Sherry and Dwight are EXTREMLY rude people.

They were VERY hateful to the bride and the groom in front of everyone. They were very rude to the family members of the bride and groom..including the groom's mother. Their rules are very strict and THEY GO BACK ON THEIR WORD. They told the bride she could bring some stuff the night of rehearsal and set up stuff so there wouldn't be that much to do the next day and when the bride showed up with eveything Sherry and Dwight went off and said they did not say she could (the bride's mother even heard them say she could) Sherry and Dwight DO NOT communicate very well at all. Sherry and Dwight forget that weddings are a very happy day for the couple and make almost everything and everyone miserable.

So PLEASE do not have your wedding there, it may look absolutely gorgeous but I can PROMISE you it is not worth all the stress you will go through when dealing with Sherry and Dwight.

DETERMINED TO DO IT THEIR WAY!
When I meet with a bride for the first time, I'm upfront about our expectations for the event, even before they book with us. I also tell everyone at the rehearsal the night before that only the bride, bridesmaids, mom, coordinator, and ONE photographer are allowed in the house as we usually have B&B guests, and it's also our home.

My view on the event:
1. My policy is to not allow decorating on Friday night, but since I didn't have a rehearsal dinner booked, I allowed them to come in an hour before rehearsal and put on 100 chair covers and tie sashes.
2. The groom was 35 minutes late for the rehearsal making everyone wait. The minister I provided had another appointment and was late for it.
3. The mother of the groom and everyone was told at rehearsal those allowed in. She was told again NICELY at the door and still went around back and came in anyway. She's the one that made a scene (bad-mouthing me to others). Others also came in that weren't supposed to. A husband had to come in and "help" his wife change the baby? But I didn't say anything.
4. The morning of the wedding I allow 2 hours decorating time. One of the many persons assigned to decorate stayed 1 1/2 hours past time and blocked the driveway entrance and wouldn't move her car when asked by my tenant to do so. She and my tenant got into shouting & name-calling session. I had nothing to do with it. They both should have come to me to handle it.
5. Final payment was due at rehearsal. I received it one hour before the wedding.
6. No other venue I know allows a client to deduct items contracted 5 days before the event. I allowed it to help with her budget. Three weeks before the wedding the numbers almost doubled (70 to 135 people ). Obviously, the situation changes.
7. It was not communicated to me that the DJ was adding lighting inside the dining hall, but I said nothing except to make sure the cords were safe. Nor did I know he was arriving 1 1/2 hours before designated time...communication??
8. I supplied the photographer with 4 batteries for her camera when asked if I had any. BTW, she brought a second photographer in the house with her to get her computer?
10. I allowed the caterer to come out to see the set up on Thursday before the wedding & was told he would be here at 9:00am. He came at 1:50pm. I had to call him to see if he was coming instead of him having the courtesy to let me know.
I NEVER said anything to the bride or groom so I don't know where this person is coming from.
I try VERY HARD to make the wedding day special and not to let the bride know of any problems. It's when the bride doesn't communicate to the 10-12 people decorating, etc., it's extremely difficult.

“Beautiful venue ~ terrible food!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2011

This is a beautiful venue that we used for a wedding reception. Staff were very helpful and great to work with, but the food was terrible! The wedding cake was included in our per-person price ~~ it was dry and everything we wanted for decorations were not included, so we got a plain white cake that we had to add our own flowers to. The food catered by the staff was bland and horrible ~~ there was definitely not enough food provided for the size of our event, and the meat sauce had no meat for our pasta! I would definitely recommend the venue ~~ it's beautiful, but bring your own caterer!!!

I wasn't even going to respond to this one because it is so ridiculous, but I'm getting weary of people who act like they are pleased with everything and later resorting to cowardly reviews.
This mom never expressed any dissatisfaction with anything to me. She ordered Marinara Sauce, which doesn't have meat in it. Ask any restaurant!

She communicated with the cake maker directly, and we even put a cheaper ribbon the MOM PROVIDED around the layers, and did exactly what SHE TOLD us to do. In 15 years and approximately 20 cakes a year, this is the first complaint I've had on the cake. In fact, my cake maker is so popular and busy, I won't even give her name out unless you book with us.

We had so much alfredo and marinara sauce left over, I wish I'd known somewhere to take it.
My husband left a message that we'd like to talk with her after we read the review, but she wouldn't call us back.

“Home away from Home...”

My friend and I each own Tennessee Walking Horses as was in TN for a vacation and to watch a big Natural Horsemanship event. We chose this place originally because of they had TWH and the location. We were immediately made to feel comfortable upon entering. This was our first Bed and Breakfast experience and we were a little concerned with the non-hotel atmosphere. Needless to say we felt so at home I fell asleep on their couch in the living room within minutes of sitting down. Sherry and Dwight were great hosts and made us feel welcome right away. Once they discovered our interests in the Tennessee Walking Horses, Dwight took us to a local breeder of one of my friends all time favorite stallions...what hotel would have field full of horses, offer you a guided tour of the country side, and introduce you to the owner of Midnight Sun? The Inn is spotless and comfortable, the food is great and feels like a home away from home - thank you to the Stacy's for making our vacation extra special -
