We stayed here over Thanksgiving while visiting family in the area. The fun started at check in. Yes, we were early. We know that, but decided to stop in and ask if our room was ready. We walk into the completely empty lobby and ring the bell for service as requested by a sign. A woman walks in and my husband very politely asks if it would be possible to check in early. The woman rudely pointed a sign and yelled, "you're early. Check in at 2". My husband (again, very kindly) asked if it would be possible for her to check and see if they had a room ready. She again rudely stated that check in was at 2, but did start banging on her keyboard. It turns out they had two rooms available after all and we got to take our choice.
On a positive note, they have made an effort to freshen up what is, essentially, a very old motel. It would be nice, however, if they put some effort into maintainence. The bathroom plug was cracked and wobbly, probably a shock hazard. The bathroom door was so warped it made a LOUD scraping sound whenever you closed it which echoed, I'm sure, for several rooms. But worst of all, was the housekeeping staff.
The shelves in the shower were covered in soap scum, and there was some odd substance dripping down the walls. Gross!!! They came at 8 am to clean our room. We told them we were still in there and they would have to come back. When we returned to our room at 11:30 pm, our room had not been cleaned - beds unmade, bathrooms not cleaned, no new glasses or toilet paper. We assumed they just never came back. Exhausted, we went to bed. We should have checked further. The next morning as we attempted to take showers we discovered that housekeeping had, in fact, returned and TOOK ALL OF OUR TOWELS! We had one wash cloth and one hand towel, nothing else for three people. I called the desk and was told we would have to come down to the desk if we wanted towels. They could not bring them up. Unbelievable!!
On a brighter note, my brother assures me that a Hampton Inn just broke ground in Fayetteville. Hopefully it will be finished by next Thanksgiving.
