“Great Stay”

My wife and I just wanted to take a couple of days away and rest, but still be close to attractions if we decided we wanted to do something. We had read some reviews that were not favorible and were a little concerned. However, we have never have had a problem with a Holiday Inn. We found this one to be very comfortable and clean. as it ended up, we only left the room twice to eat. The beds were very comfortable and we got our much needed rest. So if you read reviews that are not favorable, I would consider them from someone who expected 5 stars at a much lower rate.
The breakfast was awesome.

“Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2010

Stayed here on our way home from a cross country trip. Clean quiet room. Relaxing pool and hot tub. After checkout we realized we forgot some cheese we bought to bring home as a gift in the refriderator. We called and the manager found it and sent it to our house for us. Nice people.

After seeing the reviews of previous travelers, I am convinced they woke up on the wrong side of the bed. The rooms could be sound-proofed a little more, but noisy neighbors are present in every hotel. I have traveled all over the western hemisphere, and this is neither the best nor the worst - it was fine for what we needed. Travelers who expect five star accommodations on a one star budget just need to get over it already. Room included small microwave, older TV, mini fridge, coffee maker and selection of coffees. We found the low rate, easy access, comfortable bed, selection of firm and soft pillows, and lots of towels a very nice bonus. This is not likely a multi-night stay for the majority of travelers, so being that it is 40 miles from K*ville, it is a fairly good option. It happened to be close to where we needed to be early the next morning, so location definitely played a factor. I will have occasion again to be in this area, and will keep this hotel in mind.

“Do NOT Stay Here!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2010

This was the worst experience I've ever dealt with a hotel. I got married the night I stayed here. I booked this hotel b.c. it was cheap and were stopping to get sleep while on our way to our honeymoon destination. When booking online I specified that I would have an about 3am check in. I arrived to the hotel at 5am very tired and ready to sleep considering it was 5am and I had just gotten married. There was a man in front of me when I was checking in. When I told her I was checking in she informed me that she had given my room away to the man in front of me and there was no vacancies. She gave me no options or any help pretty much sorry nothing I can do. She said she had no email or phone number to contact me which is not true. I pulled up the email and showed her that I had specified a about 3am check in. She was like sry it is 5am. I have never heard of something this crazy in my life. I booked that room til my check out the next day. To top it off she would not give me my money back. I began crying from frustration and exhaustion. The man overheard what was going on and how I was going to loose my money and graciously gave me his room. If it wasn't for this nice man I would have been looking for another hotel and out the money which in no way makes sense. She sent the man to the closest holiday inn which I do not see why she could not do the same for me!! This woman was the biggest idiot and should not be working front desk. Once checking out there were 2 women at the front desk I told them I was checking out and they looked at each other and one rolled their eyes. I just can not believe how ridiculous this whole experience was. The place need new management and employees. Worst hotel ever!!

“Watch out for charges on your credit card....after the fact!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2009

I stayed at the Danridge TN Holiday Inn Express on August 3, 2008 and was quoted the price of $70.00 which included taxes/fees. There was a hotel next door which was $10.00 cheaper but since we were already at the Holiday Inn Express and it was a nicer hotel, we decided to stay there for the night. Well here it is Sept 17, 09 and I charge for $9.83 pops up on my credit card from Holiday Inn Express Danridge TN!!!! When I called to inquire the girl I spoke to said they forgot to charge me taxes, that there credit card machine was messed up and did not charge anyone taxes that night, so they went back and charged it to my credit card. I explained to her that I was told that when we came in, I was told that the total bill was $70.00 which included taxes, that was what we agreed on, that was what was signed and that was the amount they were authorized to deduct from my credit card....NOT $79.83. She was absolutely no help and asked me if I knew who checked me in, I was like "That was a month and a half ago at 1:30am so NO....I don't remember who checked us in, but you should have it in the records who checked me in." She was absolutely no help and told me I would have to call back and talk to the manager when she came in after 3:30. It is not the fact of the money, $9.83 is not alot, but it adds up....think about it...if capacity is 300 rooms and they go back and bill all the people who got rooms (and it was full because we got the last room) that is almost $3000.00 if people don't call and complain. That would be a great way to scam money from people and most people would not question it because it is a small amount. The other thing that bothered me was that nobody even called to say, "Hey we screwed up and we are going to draft more money from your credit card"...they just did it. The fact that these people just feel like they have the right to go into your account, JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER...really upsets me because of the time and hassle it takes to get it corrected. I don't know if I will get a credit for this or not, but heed the advice of always keeping your receipt to show what amount was agreed upon to be paid and watch out for companies trying to slide things by when it comes to your money. I guess I should have gone to the hotel next door, it would have saved me $20.00 and time trying to deal with Holiday Inn Express in Danridge TN.
