I stayed at the Danridge TN Holiday Inn Express on August 3, 2008 and was quoted the price of $70.00 which included taxes/fees. There was a hotel next door which was $10.00 cheaper but since we were already at the Holiday Inn Express and it was a nicer hotel, we decided to stay there for the night. Well here it is Sept 17, 09 and I charge for $9.83 pops up on my credit card from Holiday Inn Express Danridge TN!!!! When I called to inquire the girl I spoke to said they forgot to charge me taxes, that there credit card machine was messed up and did not charge anyone taxes that night, so they went back and charged it to my credit card. I explained to her that I was told that when we came in, I was told that the total bill was $70.00 which included taxes, that was what we agreed on, that was what was signed and that was the amount they were authorized to deduct from my credit card....NOT $79.83. She was absolutely no help and asked me if I knew who checked me in, I was like "That was a month and a half ago at 1:30am so NO....I don't remember who checked us in, but you should have it in the records who checked me in." She was absolutely no help and told me I would have to call back and talk to the manager when she came in after 3:30. It is not the fact of the money, $9.83 is not alot, but it adds up....think about it...if capacity is 300 rooms and they go back and bill all the people who got rooms (and it was full because we got the last room) that is almost $3000.00 if people don't call and complain. That would be a great way to scam money from people and most people would not question it because it is a small amount. The other thing that bothered me was that nobody even called to say, "Hey we screwed up and we are going to draft more money from your credit card"...they just did it. The fact that these people just feel like they have the right to go into your account, JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER...really upsets me because of the time and hassle it takes to get it corrected. I don't know if I will get a credit for this or not, but heed the advice of always keeping your receipt to show what amount was agreed upon to be paid and watch out for companies trying to slide things by when it comes to your money. I guess I should have gone to the hotel next door, it would have saved me $20.00 and time trying to deal with Holiday Inn Express in Danridge TN.
