“Nice, relaxing, SAFE, clean, family fun, great park!!”

Sounds to me like the person at bottom of the list has a grudge against someone at the park. Probably they were a trouble maker and are trying to still make trouble without being there. This park is a VERY nice park to visit. My family has stayed there several times in the past two years. We have not used the cabins, though I have looked at them and they are rustic but nice. We have a camper we use and have never felt unsafe. Our children are 3 and 6 and we are very at comfortable having them there. The resteraunt is nice with good food and always clean. The pool is great with plenty of lifeguards and lots of room. Also, a large kiddie pool for the smallest of swimmers. The rangers are nice and they have activities for the kids to do basically everyday (at least in the summer). My two little boys love to ride their bikes, go hiking and swimming and also playing on the play ground. As far as terrorist, well if they think Crossville is a major target then they must be pretty inept. All I can say to the person that is sooooo worried about terrorist is I hope you can walk through a forest without having to stop and look behind EVERY tree.

“Home away from home”

I grew up visiting CMSP every year, for the first 20 years of my life. Coming from a busy South Florida city, getting away to a small town in the mountains is the perfect getaway. Eating at the lodge is always fantastic southern home cooking. The cabins are nice and cozy, and are always well cleaned and stocked with linens. It is usually a good idea to bring some extra cooking utensils, just in case your cabin is missing something you might need. During the colder months, the park keeps each cabin well stocked with fire wood. The entire park is beautiful year round, with hiking trails, golf, fishing and boating on the lake, and swimming in the pool. There are also several playground areas for children of all ages. Now that I have my own family, I plan on keeping up the tradition my parents built for me.

My husband and I took a weekend trip here, and absolutely loved it. In fact, we are planning another trip this fall. The park grounds were gorgeous, clean and well maintained. We stayed in a AA cabin with a fireplace. It was rustic, but exactly what we expected while camping. We also at at the restaurant on the catfish buffet night and thought it was pretty good.

“Good, inexpensive, well-stocked cabin”

I completely disagree with the person who wrote his/her review in 2007. We just came back from a 5 day family reunion with 100+ people and rented out ALL of the cabins. Each and every cabin was clean, well stocked with linens, dishes and dish detergent. The mattresses were a little soggy but the sofa beds were great. The bathrooms while a little outdated, supplied us with plenty of hot water and good plumbing. The deluxe cabins are obviously the best. The duplexes are the second best and so on. I stayed in a deluxe cabin. The cable was good and we watched the Olympics. There was no wireless internet but the library and some small restaurants have it. There is no phone line but cell phones worked. The pool is enormous and has 2 diving boards (high and low dive). There were activities for the kids: slime making, macreme, paddle boat races etc. The bbq grills were abundant and there was recycling for cans. I wouldn't swim in the lake as there are water snakes. The price was super cheap and the trip was great. The trails are good and there are several volleyball nets. I'll attach photos in the next week or so.

  • Liked — cabin was fully equipped
  • Disliked — mattresses were a little too soft

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2008

My college friend and I meet at Cumberland Mountain State Park every year with our kids. As I grew up in the Smoky Mountains, I was not expecting the Ritz! We have had 3 different cabins and have not had any problems, except that we always bring extra kitchen supplies. We have been comfortable, have felt safe (2 ladies and 3 boys). Maybe there is a difference during the spring and summer. This is more of a camping experience with protection from the rain! There are swings, trails, green areas to play in, and the pool (open from Memorial day to Labor day) is great! Olympic size, lifeguards on duty, plenty of seats. I have not seen the sights that the other reviewer has seen. Our experience has been great.

  • Liked — The rustic setting and beautiful greenery.
  • Disliked — Bringing in groceries
