We enjoyed our room - large with king bed and full size couch. Fridge and microwave. Bed was comfortable and bedding was above average. A/C worked well. Quiet and in a nice part of town with restaurants nearby.
There was apparently only one ice machine in this three story hotel and it was in the lobby. Inconvenient and I'm sure incapabable of supplying enough ice for all the guests. There was plumbing on our floor for a machine but no machine.
There was supposed to be a hot breakfast but the morning we were there, they had major problems. Someone said they overheard that the lady in charge of it had a death in the family. However, when the desk clerk was asked about the buffet the only response was 'we're working on it'. The manager was observed on the phone and signing papers while guests went through the cabinets looking for paper plates and supplies. Apparently the buffet had been set up once and then when that set up was used, there was no one to replenish. Even the milk containers were empty so there was no cereal for people. While I certainly understand emergencies, honestly I couldn't help but think 'why doesn't the manager just roll up his sleeves and cook if he has no one to give the job to'. Even the coffee had run out with more than an hour to go before the buffets scheduled end.
They have free internet but it is not strong enough for streaming video. My husband wanted to watch a ball game and was disappointed. But he could get his email, etc.
Even with the above problems, I'd probably try them again just for the nice large room.

Dear Valued Guest,
First and Foremost, I would like to apologize for any inconvinences you encountered while at the Wingate. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to give us your valuable feed back.
I would like to clairfy that we do have two ice machines, one on the first floor and one on the third.
I would like to thank you for your patience on the morning referred to in your review. Yes our breakfast hostess's father died that morning. When I arrived I was informed of this and my first priority was to reach out to our team member to ensure her well being. After that phone call, I did just as you recommended and "rolled-up" my sleeves and replenished everything on the breakfast buffet.
I hope you do return to stay with us again and do look forward to a great stay with us.
Sincerely,
Burk Forester
