“Nice but needs improvement.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

The Sheraton Read House is a Historic hotel that is nice overall but could use a bit more updating. Nice rooms that have been redone, nice beds, linens and furniture. The bathrooms are bad. I stayed in a King suite, the room and sitting area was nice, the bathroom was TINY. Two people cannot get ready at the same time. The old wallpaper and door frames and old stained tiles made the bathroom seem very dirty. The heat in our room did not work. Hopefully the Sheraton will make some much needed improvements.

“Nice overall experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

This hotel was centrally located in downtown and we had easy access to the free shuttle for downtown chattanooga. We parked outside the hotel for the weekend without incident instead of paying $15 a night for parking. I had to partake of the indoor swimming pool and it was lovely. We did not visit the Porter restaurant located inside the hotel. The room was lovely with a separate sitting area. Our only qualm was the flushing of the toliet. It was so loud and toliet was like the toliet at my job that you flush with your foot. (hahahaha)

We loved our overall stay at this particular Sheraton.

Room Tip: You can park for free on the street during the weekends. Instead of driving downtown to the aquariu...

Thank you so very much for sharing your comments - I am very pleased to learn that you enjoyed your visit with us and that you took advantage of the free Shuttle the city provides. Of course, we are very fortunate that we have our very own "Stop", appropriately entitled "Read House"! I hope you will visit us again the next time your travels bring you back to Chattanooga - and be sure to try Porter's when you do, you won't be disappointed!

“Looks can be deceiving”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

The lobby is gorgeous and the staff was friendly. The room itself seemed ok at first. However, the air conditioning would not come on, and it was an old school window unit instead of a thermostat. The "fan" and "heat" controls worked, but not air conditioning. The black-out curtains would not move, only the sheer curtains. That was ok...until night came! The building across from us had bright lights that shone on our faces all night long, SO annoying! The shower had very light water pressure and the control kept slipping and turning so the water would scald you. Very unpleasant stay, thank God we were only staying 1 night!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am very, very sorry to learn of the challenges you had with your guestroom. I wanted to let you know that our Chief Engineer and Executive Housekeeper both took the time to investigate the items you described with the a/c, blackout drapes and shower. However, I am both perplexed and at a real loss as to what to report since they did not discover a problem with any of the issues you listed. I really regret that we did not meet your expectations and for that I am truly sorry. Thank you for staying with us.

“Have been there 4-5 times over the last year”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I usually get the end room with the jaccuzzi tubs and always enjoy them. depends on activities in the area i suppose as some nights it is very quite and peaceful and others dogs barking and loud people going up and down the steps and in the hall. did call and complain about the noise one time and was told it was a reunion and nothing they could do but maybe more me..it was 3am..i wasnt going to pack up and move. overall my other visits have been great. i would recommend they clean or replace the carpets as the rooms i was in were stained. we ate at porters and always had great food, so that was a plus and the location is nice also

First, allow me thank you for your loyalty and repeat patronage; I know how many lodging choices are available to you in the downtown Chattanooga area and I am grateful you have chosen to stay with us. I apologize for the noise you experienced during your visit back in April of 2011 - it does happen on ocassion and while we do what we can to control things like this there are times when it is a struggle. Thank you for your kind comments about Porter's - I am very pleased to know you enjoy your meals there during your visits. It is my hope that your next visit is not too far in the future and we look forward to welcoming you back.
