“A Truly Wonderful Place to Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

My husband and I booked a Wednesday night prior to the Thursday start of the 127 garage sale. We drove down from the Chicagoland area that morning. We checked in and went to our room by about 6pm. It was like staying in grandmas house. The floors are old wood, The bathroom was small but meet our needs. No it is not white glove clean but it was charming. The best part is the balcony. It overlooks the river and downtown Chattanooga. It was hot that day ( August 3rd- 95+ degrees) We ordered a pizza and it arrived in like 20 minutes! After a short nap and checking our emails we went to the pool area. The owners were there with some other guests. The view with the lights was outstanding and the swim was nice. very quiet. During our stay there were no children.

There are cat's on the property. I LOVE cats so that was a super plus. While feral they are very nice and do not come unless you feed them. We brought some cat food and feed them on the public balcony after our swim. We relaxed and enjoyed the view and our new friends. In the am, I woke early excited about the garage sale road trip and I was greated with the most beautiful purple/ pink sunrise I have ever seen. We left some food, cat snacks and pizza for the housekeeper for the cats.

If you are picky, whiny, hate cats or generally have a city mentality that the place must be perfect then do not go here. Do the others who love this place a favor by staying away. But if you want a unique experience with a wonderful view in a very pieceful setting then you HAVE to stay here. It is laid back and charming. IT is not a Best Western or Holiday Inn Express. That is why we stayed here. We wanted to be at the foot of Lookout Mountain away from the hustle and bustle below. Doors and floors are not perfectly level, not everything was perfect and who cares!! You will not find an experience like this on the hotel strips or in downtown Chattanooga. The owners are nice. The housekeeper is simply adorable and the setting reminds me of the old time motor lodges. We plan on coming back next year and hope to bring some friends with to share this wonderful experience. Highly recommend!! The price is a bit higher than the local Best Western but the place is worth it for an intimate atmosphere.

“Quaint and Old Fashioned”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

We stayed at this hotel in Chattanooga for several nights in April. Prices are super reasonable. We had a room with a kitchen and two double beds.

The kitchen was great to have so that we didn't have to eat out every night and we had our breakfasts at home as well.

If you want a hotel that has all the bells and whistles this is not the place for you. But if you don't mind a little rustic charm than I highly recommend staying here. The old fashioned beds. The creaky floors. The old fashioned bathroom. The living area/kitchen was a nice size. We spent much time playing cards at the kitchen table in the evening. Best of all was the old screen door and lovely view from the deck with the wooden rocking chairs.

Like I said - very dated, But clean and everything worked. So you just have to know what to expect. The owner was very accommodating. Oh, just so you know - there are about 10 cats that roam the property. My 15 year old loved them and probably took pictures of all of them.

The only things I would suggest to the owners is; provide salt/pepper, and shampoo.
And maybe start getting new mattresses.

“Owner is a Liar, and charged our card without permission”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

I thought this place was going to be nice, family style atmosphere. Wrong, when I showed up to check in no one was in the office. The lady in the office finally showed up stuffing her face with Hardee's and took her sweet time opening the window to check in. The rooms are old and most things do not open/close or work properly, the toilet was clogged. When we returned from our vacation a week later we had received a message on our home phone from Patsy (the owner) saying we needed to return to the room immediately because she had been told our dogs were in the room and this is strictly against the rules. She left the message at 9:30 on Saturday, we checked out before 10:30 and never saw her. We left a tip and the key with Mrs. Betty (the house cleaner) and thought everything was fine. Nope $50 charge on our card, and when we called the owner to discuss the charge, she denies what she said in her message (but we still have the message saved). Also, there was a bright light on all night long outside our room so we never knew when it was dark or when it was morning. PATSY IS A LIAR, DO NOT STAY HERE. THERE ARE MANY OTHER PLACES FOR THE MONEY NOT TO PUT UP WITH THE HASSLE.

“Unfortunate Experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

We stayed one night, and part of the reason we picked this place was because it is pet friendly. They do not charge a pet fee (I think it's included in the excessive room charge of $167 for a "regular" room); according to something I read in the room, they seem to pride themselves for not charging an additional fee, but they expect pet owners to leave a tip for the house keeper....so we did. Then we returned from vacation and discovered that we had, in fact, been charged a $50 pet fee for one night. The additional problem that the toilet didn't flush (and could not be immediately fixed because, as we were told, the maintenance man was off until Monday, and this was the weekend), this was a very unfortunate experience. Also, an outside light was left on all night right outside the window, so those who like the dark while sleeping would not like this room! (However, at least the housekeeper was polite!)

“Simple and Clean!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2011 via mobile

Second time to stay here. It is very clean. Great location. The inn meets my need for a non-chain clean safe room. Reminds me of inns I stayed in when traveling in Europe. It is not deluxe accommodations but is more than adequate for my needs. I will stay again when I return in two weeks. Nice pool with view.
