“Wonderful change of pace!”

My husband and I decided to stay at Stone Fort for a change instead of a typical chain hotel. It did not disappoint! The room was clean and spacious, with a fireplace and a two person tub. The owners are so sweet and accommodating. The location was great, though not right by the river and bridge. If you are planning a visit you should just keep in mind that it is a very old building and so be prepared for creaky floors. Also, be ready to call ahead about where to park as it is not the lot right next to the building. Overall, this is the perfect place for a romantic getaway!

“Our Favorite Chattanooga Hotel”

We live 45 miles from the Stone Fort Inn. When we are in Chattanooga for Symphony concerts or other evening events we treat ourselves to a night at the Stone Fort Inn. We have stayed there 7 or 8 times a year for the last 5 years and never been disappointed. We look forward to our stays there. The decor is beautiful, clean, and unique. The staff is very friendly and dedicated to meeting our every need. James and Dee are aware of the best restaurants and activities that may be of interest to visitors. We always check for the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the bowl in the hallway before entering our room. We must admit that we have been guilty of taking a couple of packs home with us if there are any left in the morning! We find sitting in the richly appointed dining room, drinking a cup of freshly brewed locally roasted coffee, a pure delight. Brian's breakfasts are a reason to get up in the morning and have never failed to amaze and satisfy us. We feel like royalty when we stay there and can't wait to have an excuse to come back.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms are our favorites in the Spring, Fall, and not so warm summer nights. The Stone Fo...

“Yearly Anniversary Stay, Excellent Yet Again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary again, as we have each year since we got married, at the Stone Fort Inn. On previous occasions we have stayed in a Private Balcony Room on a weekend night. This time we stayed in an Exclusive Balcony Room on a Sunday night. The room and stay could not have been better. We arrived to a new set up at the Stone Fort Inn since we had last been there. The lobby had been rearranged and some of the walls repainted. It looked great. We checked into our room, finding a plush king size bed and gas fireplace. The balcony view included trees and a visual of the close by federal courthouse. Once my wife and I were ready to head to dinner, we proceeded downstairs where innkeeper James called a cab for us and also made a cup of coffee for us each. After taking to James for a while and him offering to move our car to another lot (due to me parking in a lot that may tow in the morning), Tony the cabdriver arrived in fewer than 10 minutes to whisk us away to downtown Chattanooga where we planned to grab a romantic dinner. After a great dinner at Easy Bistro, we walked across the street to Big River Grille and had a few more drinks. We then called Tony back, who again was prompt and polite. Finally back at the Stone Fort Inn, we conversed with Tony and James, as James was on his way to grab a late night burger.

The next morning, because we were staying on a Sunday, we truly expected a more "continental" breakfast than what had experienced during our weekend night stays. This was far from the case, as the full order breakfast included among various other things, fresh quiche, a potato casserole, and delicious scones (easily the best I've ever had). We had made to order eggs and recouped with coffee and fresh juice.

Once again the Stone Fort Inn exceeded our expectations. The accommodations, service, and food are clearly the highlights of this B&B. We of course will be staying there again next year, and the year after that, and after that...

Room Tip: While we enjoyed the Exclusive Balcony Room, our stay in the Private Balcony Room was more secluded...

“Wonderful Experience”

We recently stayed at the Stonefort Inn and it was an amazing experience, everythng I expected and then some. Beautifully decorated, fresh and clean. When you walk in, you get such a warm and welcome feeling. The Staff was very promopt and freindly, they went above and beyond to make our stay great! Breakfast was wonderful and the scones are just to good to describe with words.
Located within walking distance to all the downtown attraction, you really couldn't ask for more! Great place to stay for the money and we will be back.

Room Tip: If your coming to Chattanooga, this is the place to stay!

“Nice staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

My boyfriend & I stayed here one night on New Year's Eve and admittedly didn't spend much time here but we picked it because it was walking distance to the venue we were attending that night. The inn itself is beautiful. The rooms, while quaint and historic needed a good dusting. There were tons of dust under all the furniture and on the window treatments. The bedding and sitting chair in the room was faded and worn. The bed however was comfortable and the bathroom was very large and clean. The mirror in the bathroom was not very accommodating for short people. I'm 5' and had on 4 inch heels and still had to tip toe to put on my makeup and do my hair. There was another mirror in the armoir but the lighting was bad and my curling iron wouldnt reach. Might seem like I'm knit picking but it's kind of annoying when you can't see yourself to get ready for a special outing!
About the staff though, excellent people. We went to the bar for a drink before our new Year's party and were told we couldn't be there because there was a private wedding reception taking place. But they made us drinks anyway - even gave me a free glass of wine - and told us we were more than welcome to enjoy the other parts of the inn.
Like other reviewers said also, the rooms slant AND if you aren't on the top floor, you will hear every single footstep - among other things - of the room above you.
So to sum it up...nice place to visit for a night or passing through, great convenience to downtown Chattanooga. Also pretty place for a wedding or reception. One night was ok, but don't think I could stay a weekend or longer there.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor.
